Default Violinsts

I would LOVE to have a violinist for our ceremony but I cant seem to find many. The ones I do find are part of a trio OR are 800 bucks. Yikes. I just want someone for like an hour. Any suggestions on where to look or any good sites. I live in Minnesota.

Thanks guys!

Do you have any colleges in your area that have Music as a major? If so, you might want to contact their Music department. They may have students that would be willing to perform for a small fee.

That's exactly what I was going to say.

The only other possibility I can think of is checking your local paper... If there is an advert for music lessons then perhaps the teacher would consider doing it...

I was going to suggest that too. Also ask around in your church, you might have a closet player...... I paid somewhere around 200 each for the piper and the flutist/pianist.

Unfortunately - I have absolutely no suggestiongs - But the college sounds like a great idea. Ya know, if you find no luck with that, I bet you could go to a local high school - leave a message for the Music instructor. Sometimes those high school kids perform like magic...seriously!! Ask the teacher and if they have someone, maybe you could go observe one day & see if you are comfortable with that.

Have you considered posting an ad on Craig's List? I think that's free in some cases, and you can post in a specific geographical area. I usually look under gigs>talent for casting calls, and I see ads for different instrumentalists there as well.

I have had a hard time finding one in my area. I got the a name and number of a guy that is post to be the best around. I have left a message and just waiting to hear back. I got his number from a resource the music store in the area gave me. It's been a long road on finally getting a number. I would try to call the music dept. of the college emails don't all the time get answered. You might even try a music store in the area.

I wonder if there is a Suzuki school in your area. (it is the school where all those amazing tiny little kids play violin and they are awesome! But they are like 8 years old.)

I'm with LJ try a music store, sometimes they know people. Music fraternities are awful about anwsering their e-mails, I know I was in a female one. They will answer it's just sometimes it takes a bit of time and you happen to be sending them right about the time of some schools spring breaks.

I got a call back and found a great deal. I'm not going to hijack your thread so I'll put it in my wedding journal. If you haven't did it call your local music store if that don't work call the college.

I found mine through the local college, I tried e-mailing the head of department and never got an answer, so finally I just called and the secretary actually gave me the name of some students in a quartet that does that sort of thing...
