Wax
Has any one had there legs waxed b-4? If so how bad does it hurt and how long does it last?
I had to go have a nail fixed and the place I go does the full leg for $55. She said it only takes about 30 min but she couldn't give me a time that it will last. I thought about having it done for the wedding cause no matter what I do i have to shave every day and i still have stubs with in a few hours. They also do underarms for $25 I wounder how bad that would hurt?

I personally think shaving is better. I've gotten waxed before and it is never as smooth for me as it is for other people. Thats just my own experience...oh yeah, and the pain is considerably worse than childbirth

If you decide to get it done let us know what you thought. I'm interested in doing it too. Or better yet...electrolysis.

Hmm okay well i guess i'm becoming a waxing expert. I get my eyebrows done, ive gotten legs done before, and i regularly get a brazillian wax.
I hate shaving because i also get the stubble right away. I get cold really easily so goosebumps are my worst enemy. For me the leg wax didnt last long enough for it to be worth it. Now the brazillian.... i LOVE LOVE LOVE that. Not looking forward to finding a new lady though once i move. It hurts worse than childbirth ive been told but thats only the first time. if you can make it through that time, everytime after that is super easy... no worse than an eyebrow wax just slightly more uncomfy being that you're nakie down below!

I could never do the brazillian wax the lady was telling me all about doing them. She also told me the legs hurt the first time. I'm good on pain but I just don't want to scream and other people be in the building. I have no problems with my eyebrows my eyes tear up every now and then but it never hurts as much as plucking. You sounds like me on stubble I get goosebumps a lot and as soon as I get them u can forget it i have stubble. How long did the legs wax last for u.

It only last like a week and a half for me. I didnt think i could do the brazillian either until i found out my best friend had done it... after the first time i was NEVER going to do it again... then michael liked it so much i decided to do it again as a treat... to my surprise it didnt hurt at all the second time!
The good thing about waxing is that the hair grows back thinner and more sparse but really only worth it if you're going to keep it up and keep doing it.

its a little more expensive but you should save up and look into laser hair reduction. it rocks. The clinic I work at is looking into getting one and its really cool. you have it done 2-4 times and then you are pretty much hair free. It works best on darker hair. ok for blondes but much better on brunettes because it works with the pigment in your hair. Im eventually getting my upper lip and armpits done for sure. it doesnt hurt, more so uncomfortable. the rep did a spot on my leg a few weeks ago and Id say maybe half the hair grew back. its nice

I keep getting flyers for it but haven't called to ask the price. How much for a few shots of the lazer?

I do know if you're gonna go with the whole laser hair reduction you should start soon because you like she said you have to go in three or four times a week or more apart from what I understand. My friend in college had it done, she loved it. I have no idea how much it cost, her parents paid for it, we'll just say her parents are loaded.

Waxing hurts like the devil the first time, only because you have no idea what it is and how much it will hurt. For me my legs stayed clean for nearly a month. I get my eyebrows done every three weeks now, but I stopped doing my legs because I didn't like it, and I was 13 so everything hurt more. I'm sure if I were to go get it done again it wouldn't be as bad. Underarms? that's a whole different story and I would never do it. A little too sensitive for that one.

Well as I understand its a different price for each spa, clinic, and where u live. Our rep said we should charge $150-200 per visit for upper lips and the same for armpits. Its spendy but its a one time fix (well ya know, once ur visits are complete) u don't have to go once a month for life to get waxed.

I can handle my legs being waxed. I tried the brazilian once at home, thought I was going to die. But I've been wanting to do it again, but go somewhere to have it done. I don't think I could handle the armpits...too sensitive. I think waxing my legs lasted about 3 weeks, maybe 4. It was worth the pain.

Yeah i have a problem with ripping out my own hair... especially THERE! lol i'll let someone else do it thank you! when i had it done the first time, i was getting a pedicure when the lady came in (bigger older woman, harsh looking) and said "you for wax?" flashing warnings in my mind said oh my god, this russian lady probably likes inflicting pain... but shes just wonderful.

My issue with the brazilian wax is that - for some reason they say that ingrown hairs are more likely with waxing. Isn't that odd, I definitely didn't think that'd be the case.
My other huge issue...someone PLEASE agree with me, I know I'm not the only one... YA GOTTA LET THE HAIR ON YOUR LEGS/ARMPITS/NO-NO SPOT ETC. GROW TO UNGODLY LENGTHS IN ORDER FOR THE WAX TO BE TOTALLY EFFECTIVE. How do you let it go that long?? My FH would freak if I was like "Just 2 more weeks baby - then I'll have enough hair to be waxed!!" Better yet - I'd go out of my mind!!

Actually the first time you let it gro for three weeks its really really awful... but after that, the hair grows in thinner and more sparse so you almost cant see it. Like mine (sorry if too personal) was thick and black from shaving for years. Now when its time for another wax (every three weeks) whatever is there is soft and light.
And cure for ingrowns is to use a little bit of astringent or toner in the morning after you shower.

How many times does it take for your legs to be like silk? I wanted to do this for the wedding and I don't think I would have enough time to do it twice.

Well after the very first time, my hair already started growing back lighter and thinner. The problem might be that the first wax is not a clean wax... meaning they wont get ever little hair the first time. i tend to get a nicer cleaner shave if i wait at least a week in between shaving (it was cool here cuz i only saw michael every other week anyway) and using a fresh razor. Might try that the day of the wedding?

I think if you got it done this week it'd have enough time to grow so that you could have it done at the start of May... But it still might leave some very short hairs... It's more useful for the look of being hairless, rather than the silky feel...

I didn't get that silky feel until I'd done it a few times. What's really nice though is now when I shave my legs they're all silky because my hair was so beaten up that it's still really fine and thin. I really should go back and get it done again, but I always flash back to being 13 and hating it. We shall see.
As I said, I get my brows waxed every three weeks and it's made such a difference. I would never go back to tweezing.
Oh, funny story. I switched to a different spa to get my eyebrows done a year ago. I said something about how I hated plucking my brows, and the aesthetician laughed and said "you pluck a chicken; you tweeze your brows." That's stuck with me and I still correct people. I'm a dork.

i try not to get my eyebrows waxed too often... like i'll wax and then tweeze for a couple months because the wax burns my skin off since its so sensitive around my eyes

hmmm, I've never had that problem. The wax they use is usually luke warm though, so that could be why. The lady I used to go to had hot wax and she burned me or ripped off skin a few times. That sucked.
The only issue I've had is that if they don't put something on afterwards, my skin breaks out. That really sucks. Last time I went was horrible, I had breakouts every where. It was a new girl though, so I'm just going to ask not to have her again. Lol, I'm 21, I shouldn't be having huge breakouts anymore.
