Rehearsal Dinner
Kenny and I tried a new place in town last week it was great Italian food. We talked about having the rehearsal dinner there. After I talked with the man today it seems like a go for it. Here is there web site! VINCENZAS They are going to do a three choice menu for us.
Chicken Broccoli Fettuccine Alfredo
Spaghetti with meat sauce or with out
Lasagna Classic
served with salad and bread
We was just going to do the Alfredo and lasagna but then we thought about the kids and thought we better do spaghetti just in case. It's not coasting us extra to add more. It is 16.00 a person including tip. It's the only place around here that is good and below $20 a person. But it don't include a dessert he said I could bring in a cake if I didn't want to add the extra $5 a person but I don't no if there is a need for a dessert.
Here is a picture of the area we will be. They will put the tables in a long line enough to fit 20 people around and then set up two small tables side by side for us to put gifts on 4 the wedding party. I thought the only thing they have to put on tables is what u see so I thought about going and getting vase from the dollar tree maybe 2 dozen of them and getting wild flowers or those colorfully daisy u can get at walmarts to put in them to go down the center of the table.
Any one have any other ideals or something that would be nicer then just vases and flowers.

How about running tulle and ivy (intertwined) down the center of the tables and have some wildflowers scattered about? Oooor, the tulle/ivy combo with candles...that would be so pretty. I'll think some more, and see what I come up with.

At a dinner I threw for the girls at school, I bought shallow plastic bowls that look like cut glass from the dollar store, tealight holders at a craft store for 50 cents and a bag of tealights. I bought a rose for every 2 bowls and filled the bowl with water, not too deep or you'll submere the candle, placed the candle in the center and floated the rose petals around the candle. Simple, cheap, very pretty.

I didn't know you were supposed to decorate the tables for a rehearsal dinner (but then, we don't really have them at all) I just wanted to say congrats on finding somewhere you like & can afford!
I'd be tempted to go with Sparkle's idea; it'd give you something else to do with the tulle... And could you use the candle holders you've bought for the reception?

We have to figure out some where or something else to do. We went by tonight to get a total price for 20 people. They was a total A&& they wanted us to pay $100 tip for 20 people that $5 a person in tip. The beverages was being placed on the table in pitchers and the salad was in 4 big bowls so that is half of the work done for them. They didn't have to do any set up. The price was good but to add on that much more then what we was told pissed me off. So I just flat out told them I wasn't paying $5 a person for tips. So now we have to figure out something else to do. This is prom night for 2 schools so it's going to be about impossible to find another restaurant. grrrr

LJ, have you thought about having it at someone's house? If you have a backyard that you could sue or even someone with a big enough house, that might be fun. You could buy appetizers in bulk at somewhere like Costco or something. I'm not sure...I'm sorry that place didn't work out!!

I was really looking forward into have a relaxed meal with every one together. In the past it seems like his family stay to there self so I was thinking if it was at a restaurant and we was all seated together they wouldn't have a choice. The church does have another room we could use and it would be cheaper to just buy stuff already made up. I don't think it would be a lot of work.

I actually think (just my opinion) that some sort of mingling situation might be better. We were going to have ours at a restaurant, but then realized that you are stuck talking to who you sit by; in your case, Kenny's family might all sit near/across from each other and only converse with one another. If you have a situation where they are forced to mingle (more like a backyard barbecue), they might be more likely to talk with other people. At least that is how it works in my mind. I wanted all of our families to converse too and that is why we are really pushing for a backyard, very casual kind of thing.

Mom ask if we really needed one since we are paying for it. I'm not asking the fmil to pay for any thing. I really want one but don't know if I should just forget about it.

Just an idea....I am having Sonnys Barbeque (not sure if you have one near you) cater. They will cook, deliver and set up all the food for about 8 bucks a person. This includes Two meats (Were doing pulled pork and sliced beef) garlic bread, barbeque baked beans, coleslaw, and sweet tea. They deliver it is the best part. Since we are decorating the church for the reception the day before we are going to have the rehersal in another room of the building since we will all be there.
Just an idea.
Danielle
20 more days...and the countdown starts

Ohhh LJ what a bummer. I don't blame you for looking forward to a nice and relaxing dinner.
I don't have any other suggestions other than letting me call Vincenza's myself and letting me MAKE them reconsider the $5.00 / head tip thing. I am highly persuasive - trust me
I wish I lived closer and knew your area - because I'd do some legwork for you if I could. Give me the name of your town & surrounding toens, I'll try to help if you want....sorry...you must be stressed now!

I talked till I was blue in the face I told them if I had to pay the $5 a person in tip I wouldn't be doing it there. They told us any party over 10 they have that added on. Bull ****!
Thanks swtdl11552 but that is really the only place around here besides apple bees, and stuff like that.

That's too cute! All of our KFC's are funk. The one by the ski resort was good though. We ate it while we were there....I love their biscuits.
