Not so fancy dress
Hey everyone.
As if I haven't asked for enough help...here I go again. I'm looking for a dress for the wedding, those of you who know me know it is my second. While the plans keep changing for the number of people...there are 2 things that have NOT changed...
a. who I am marrying
b. the kind of dress I want
I need help finding it. I want a bridal/style dress that begins at the top in white and fades to pink - to all colors of pink, eventually to a darker pink at the bottom. Anyone see one anywhere?? If you have, let me know where.
Thanks a bunch
Shannon

Look up prom dresses on google. I saw something like that last year, but I believe it was a very pale pink at the top and went into the darker pink at the bottom. I'll see if I can find it again

So close - yet SO far away...
Offered in pink as well:
Would have been almost perfect without the flowers!
*giggling*
Some of them just look a little *too* prom, know what I'm sayin'?

Those are great though. Yes, a little too prom on most. A couple are even close to Halloween Diva dresses. BTW...my boobs are huge and my figure could use some-a-flattering, so don't go crazy with them tight dresses
p.s. I absolutely CANNOT get away without a strong support bra, so there is not way those backless wonders are going on me

LOL ok, gotcha
Are you more than a size 16? That way I can look at appropriate sites.

No, not more than a 16 - at least not yet I'm about a 12/14. Those are great - the P5021 would be perfect if the colors were upside down I do want the pure white at the top!

You're about the same size as me then. I'm like an 11, if there is such a thing. And I've got the big boobage too I'm off to bed, but I think everyone gets the idea of the coloring now, and knows not to choose dresses that look painted on.
That's your homework, girls!

Thanks so much for taking the time to help me out. I'm off to bed too. God bless the boobed-blessed women!

I'm not even 100% sure myself. Something almost like what Gwen Stefani wore at her wedding ( I can't find the pics right now)...but I'm going to say a little less expensive White at the top with a fading into light pinkand then darker pink at the bottom.
Thank you so much for your help!

Have you thought about having it made. You might have a really hard time finding something like you are looking for. I've searched but not found nothing close to what u want. I'll keep looking!

Thanks! I haven't looked into having it made, I think it will cost too much. If I don't get it that style, I'll just have to find something else. I have seen a couple of dresses that were nice...not ALL white... we'll see. Isn't it really expensive to have it made?

The coloring you're looking for is called dip dying.
"The event may have been traditional in many ways--starting with a custom-made pink and white wedding dress for Dior by John Galliano, complete with an antique lace veil."

I have no idea where to find one - all I can suggest is buying a pattern and your own material and hiring a seamstress to do it.
I really just wanted to say don't worry about asking for help here - that's what we're here for!

YOU FOUND IT. That is exactly what I'm talking about, well, except not quite so long. Here is my deal - I have NO CREATIVITY about me. I could NOT dye dip that myself. There is not a snowballs chance in - well, you know where. I have to see if I can find someone who can do it.
So - anyone up for the challenge? I'll buy the dress - send it to you, and you make it work haha.
I really do have to look into this more. This is so cool!!!

I agree having it made would be your best bet, and doing it this way would be cheaper then having it custom made and is really not that much more then a dress would cost you anyhow. I would also have the skirt dyed before the whole thing was assembled, like when just the outer skirt was done before any under layers where attached, that way if it gets messed up you only have to replace that much material.
You also may have to go with a more expensive fabric for the skirt part but could go with something a little cheaper on the top that matches well.

Just make sure you find out which fabrics can be dip dyed. I can't do that. I'd try talking to someone who makes dresses, and see if they could do it.

Or maybe just get some sample yards of the EXACT SAME fabric and give it a try to see how it comes out before trying it on the dress. Yeah, I'd be nervous, too!

If you can find a white or ivory prom dress after prom season ends, you might be able to get a good enough deal so that if the dye doesn't come out the way you'd hoped, it isn't a total catastrophe, KWIM?

I don't know about all this I'm going to see what I find though. I'm going to go to a bridal store I think, and ask them. They'll probably charge me up the wazoo but its ok. What can ya do....if that is the case, then I'm not getting a dress like that. There are others that I like also. That's just one style that I would really like.
