My dress!
As you all know my mother made my dress. Well I wasn't happy with the top of the dress now that I am not a size 26 and that I'm not into puff sleeves. It is a high waisted dress I had not showed any one but ANN the top of the dress but I will go ahead and show it. Remember this is a b-4 picture and when my mother made this dress I was close to 75 lbs bigger! It will never look like this again.
Now that mother has taken the top of it off I have to figure out what I want to do with the top. I was thinking maybe something like this. Just the top part the dress, it is made with a seam under in breast. The Davids Bridal that is the closest has a dress like this in a size 20 and I know it will be to big but I thought if I go and try it on I would know if I liked it. I just don't know about it cause it shows a lot of skin but I think my train will cover most of it.
Here is a picture of the rest of the dress but nothing on it will be changed.

I don't think the sleeves are too puffy on the original. I am a size 18/20 and the shirred side at the waist is really flattering on. It is one of my favorites because it really does give a thinner illusion.
I am having trouble with halters since I am pretty top heavy... I end up with major spillage.
I'd love to see pics of you trying on that dress!!! Good luck and congrats on your weight loss!!!

I'm not a fan of puffy sleeves so I may be biased, lol. I had a halter top like the picture you posted and I was very comfortable all night. If I were you, I would go to a shop and try on a variety of dresses. Take pictures, sleep on it and then figure out what you want.

I'd try to see if you can find suitable underwear to go with a halterneck, then go try some on. I personally find I have difficulties with halterneck bras (I'm a 34F). I do have one, but it puts so much weight onto my neck that it gives me a headache.
I think the halter is very pretty, and if it is practical then go for it
You should go try some on at Davids Bridal and see what you think.
Will you be wearing your veil at the reception? It would give you a bit of coverage if you feel you need it, and if you wear it towards the back of your head it wouldn't get in your way at the meal...
I think it'll blow everyone away once they see you in the new version of your dress You've managed to lose such a huge amount of weight since that photo was taken the photo doesn't do you justice any more. You're going to blow Kenny away
BTW... I think, if you decide against the halter, that the bodice of the dress without the sleeves would look pretty. Not that I hate the sleeves at all but I know you went off them...

That's a really good idea, Ann, of just taking the sleeves off of that bodice. Lesley, so you'd try on a halter top to see how it looks and then your mom would just be able to replicate it? That's really impressive! She did beautiful work on that dress! I love the lace work on the back!

That is a very beatiful dress. I love the train. It would look great as a halter but now that Ann mentioned it, I think thats a great idea. The bodice just without the sleeves.

Thanks MTGH my mom is great but it took her a lot of hours to hand bead all the lace. When she made my dress I showed her 3 different style dresses I like and she put them all together. She did take the sleeves off the top part to see if I would like it and it is ok I might like it better if it fit.
I'm still going to go try that dress on Monday or Tues just to see what it look likes. If it looks ok then I'll post some pictures.
Ann my veil fits on the front of my head. It will go down beside my ears and over my front of my arms to my elbows. So it will cover a lot and I do plan to wear it at the reception.

I think the ladies are right, the halter would be pretty but I think it would also be very pretty if you aren't feeling the sleeves to just take them off. Then it would still allow you to wear a normal bra.

Oh, I thought you were meaning next week LJ! I've got my days all mixed up again
I know how busy you are, but I suppose you will have to decide soon if you want to give your mum a chance to get it all done.

This week ann no way am I going to put it off another week. I am going tomorrow after I drop the kids off at school. If I really like it then I will let mom make the top over again. But If I'm not big on it I will see what mom can do with the sleeves off. I'm not sure if I will like the halter just because of it showing my fat under my arms.

I agree - I'm a 36DD and the halter can get heavy - but if you find one that works for you, more power to you. I love halters!!

Well I went and I'm not to happy! I called b-4 to make sure it was ok that they had time. I get there and no dress in a size 20 they had a size 10 out for me to try on. I ask the lady if she wanted my right or left tit in the dress. Thats the only dress they had of that style. When I called and talked to the lady she told me she went and checked and it was a size 20. grrrrr made that trip for nothing. They tried to get me to try this one on and that one. I did try on one a little like the one I wanted to try and and didn't like all the skin it showed. So for now I am going to have mom fix it with out the sleeves and see if I like it.

It wasn't a complete waste of time. You got to try on something similar and found that you don't like the amount of skin showing. That will help let you know how you don't want the top to look like. It's a step in the right direction.

Well said Wembley!
Just because it wasn't the right look for you, doesn't mean you wasted your time. I think you'll be lovely in the dress you have now, but without the sleeves

CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT!! Keep your chin up! That was hysterical about the size 10 instead of 20 - seriously, I was ROARING!! I've been there! I understand!

Well it's still to big! grrrr I should be happy but i was just hoping it would be better. Well it is a lot better she just needs to take a little up here and a little down there.
We got the slip out with it tonight and it don't work any more. I guess where it has been folded up for so long it just shows the hoops to much. So I'm going to go out this weekend and see if I can find a slip that don't have hoops that will work. So I'm that after she takes it back apart and puts it back together it will be finished.
I didn't want to take any more pictures till it's finished. sorry

OK It's almost done! Mother still has to do all the trim work on the top and take it a part below the breast and pull it up 2 inches. It looks a little bunched under the breast because she has it pined so she knows how much to take up. It looks fuller then what it will be because I have a new slip under it and it needs washed so it won't be so full. I don't have the train hook to it right now mom wanted to finish it b-4 she puts all the hooks back on it. She said it will be done bu Thur. But for now here are the pictures I took tonight. The picture show me how much of a tan I already have. Not to bad for 18 days of tanning.

You look great in it. Your mom's work kicks ass. LOL your facial expression. You look like, "Put the camera down."

My mother couldn't figure out how to work the camera. I was trying to tell her how to do it and every time i would get ready to say something it would take. Plus I hate having my picture taken unless I'm fixed up!
