Default Family Vows / Sand Ceremony

I just wanted to post this for the ladies who were trying to find something to do for "blended families" or for the "family vows".

What myself and my fi are doing is we both picked out a necklace for my daughter, who is 5, that has three hearts on it all chained together. The hearts are 3 different sizes, large, medium and small. He will do his promisary (sp?) vows to her and then he'll present the necklace to her. It symbolizes the joining of the three of us together.

Then, to close the family vows part, we will each have a different color sand that we are going to pour into a vase to represent us meshing together. As many grains of sand there are, so will our love for each other last that long, or something like that. We'll get it down soon enough.

But, I hope this helps someone planning something like this.

That's great! We're doing a similar thing with vows from my FH to my kids--with necklaces with "threes" (flowers for my daughter, dolphins for my son). We're not doing the sand thing--though we'll be on the beach, so there will be plenty of sand around!

Welcome to Pash! Looking forward to getting to know more about you!

Welcome to Pash

I take it the avatar pic isn't actually from your wedding then! I saw it and thought 'what a great idea!'. I bought a set of monogramme cake toppers but they are too large to put on my cake, I may steal your idea and take off the prongs to lie them flat on the table!

Welcome to PASH!

I love the sand ceremony idea. I wanted to do something like that with FH at our ceremony but he kind of turned up his nose so we're not. I guess I'll just have to appreciate it through everyone else's ceremonies.

aww see I was thinking of burying all of our kids up to their necks in sand and letting them dig their way out before the sun sets, but this is much nicer!

Cool

thanks for the welcome ladies. i just thought i would share what i was doing and someone could get ideas from it. i'm more on the knot (theknot.com) than anything, so a lot of my ideas come from there.

no, that is not from my wedding, but it is something that i wanted to incorporate in my wedding though. i have so much going on though. now i need to find a pink gift box to put the necklace in for my fi to give to my daughter. she's 5 and a pink fanatic.
