gloomy Sore throat

Does anybody know of anything that may help a sore throat? I am the last one in the house to get sick and now I have the sore throat hanging around. I am going to call the DR today, but highly doubt if I can get in their. I hardly slept last night. Can anybody help me?

Other than cough drops, what's the name of that spray that numbs the throat? Or just hot tea with honey. Sorry you're feeling sick. Hope this illness gets out of your family soon!

I usually take pain meds. Sometimes I suck on Sucrets but they only work while you are sucking on them.

I hate sore throats.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Ladies!!! I just called the DR office, and I am going in today at 11:15. I hope they give me something for this. I do not want that codine stuff. That stuff knocks me out and I feel goofy. The sore throat is the only thing hanging around now. The other day my temp spiked, but I got that down. It is hanging around 99 now (which is not bad). I have energy to do things besides lay on the couch or in bed. I will let you know what the DR says when I get back!

Gargle with warm water (about 3-4oz) and add quite a bit of salt to it, enough to make it cloudy. Get a mouthful, gargle and spit - repeat 'til it's gone. Do this about 2-3 times a day and it should be gone in under 24 hours. For whatever reason, the salt kills the bacteria in your throat. Learned it in science, and it has always worked.

I knew someone would say that..... I need to do that. Sometimes it actually works for me. I am drinking tea with honey right now, just so I can swallow.

salt water it can be your best friend sometimes. I found a cool pill that knocked my cold right out of me it's contac-d cold it's a decongestant non-drowsy. I think its generic Kenny got it for me. But then also I took a half of bottle of cough med. that day.

Did you try taking something like Tylenol or Aspirin? They help releave pain and you're having pain now.

I'm back!!! I got an antibiotic for my throat. I have to take some over the counter things for the slight fever I still have and for my throat. This DR was very funny!! He told me that he was going to swap my throat and if I did the "puppy dog" I would not gagg. Anybody ever hear of that one before?

Glad to hear that you're on the road to recovery. What's the "puppy dog"? I'm assuming that it involves you sticking out your tongue and panting like a puppy, but I could be wrong.

Glad he gave you something and didn't just tell you to let it pass. I hate it when my doctor tells me that.
