Question about marriage license
Hello! I was wondering if anyone knew the answer to this question; Do you have to get your marriage licence in the county that you are getting married in or anywhere in the same state is ok? My fiance and I are going to be living in central florida but the wedding is in the tampa area. It would just be easier for us to get to a local court to get the licence then try to make it to tampa??Let me know!

It can vary by county and state. Check the web site of your county.

I'd call the county clerks office. They should be able to tell you what to do, or at least tell you how to find out.

That's a good question... I didn't even think about going to the same county we're getting married in. I know you say it varies by state and county but is it common to be required to go to the correct county over just the same state?

I don't know how Florida does it; I know here it has to be the same county.

Check with your local registrar's office to find out. This was something that my sister encountered when she got married, and it was almost a disaster. She thought that they could get the license in the county where we live, but she found out two days before the wedding that they had to get the license in the county where they were getting married, which was over two hours away.

In Oregon it didn't matter, but I would check locally!

You can get it in Orange county and use it in Hillsborough (Tampa). I looked into this before my wedding.
