Default Shampoo & Conditioner

I need some good suggestions...because the weather here has been so dry my hair and scalp are extremely dry and tender (I'm sure some of it has to do with stress as well) but I've never had this problem before....any ideas of products to use!!

I use Pantene deep conditioner. It helps me with split ends, but I don't know about scalp.. my hair is oily so I don't really have any suggestions!

I use Paul Mitchell Instant Moisture daily shampoo You can get it at most salons it's about 10.00 a bottle but it helps my hair out a lot. They also have the moisture con. that works well.

Mine gets really sensitive too (damn celtic skin ) The only thing my hairdresser recommends is to try leave it a couple of days between washes so your natural oils have a chance to work. And to use gentle shampoos... She recommended the LOreal Elvive range but it was too rich for me & made my head itchy but she swears it normally works wonders...

The VO5 hot oil treatments are pretty good for all that they've been around for years! I use the Aussie 3 minute miracle when my hair gets really dry, I don't know if they sell that over there. It smells yummy

The problem is that my hair is normally oily which is why I'm having such a hard time with this. I did get the L'Oreal L'vive daily conditioner, but it hasn't helped and now I'm trying to just wash every other day, but that is so weird for me, I'm having a hard time with it.

Yup it is tough...

I sort of swing between really sore, itchy, full of static or needing washed Today I've been blessed with most of the above because I just washed it

If you find anything that works well give me a shout. At this point I'd try pretty much anything.

Yea they sales Aussie I have tried it and liked it when I had a Perm in my hair. ladedah I have to wash my air every day it is so oily most of the time. Paul Mitchell just seem to make my hair come to a balance after a few times washing with it when it does start to dry up.

Do you color your hair? If so, I used Redken's Color Extend Shampoo and Conditioner.

Ditto. My hairdresser told me to only wash every other day. I wish I could stick to that but it's hard.

For conditioner, I use Infusium 23 Deep Conditioning and I love it. I have noticed that as I get older my scalp tends to get dryer and dryer. Ugh. My hair is changing too.

I use Nioxin Shampoo and Scalp Therapy. It's pricey but so worth it! It makes your scalp tingle so it feels extra clean.

However, if you have thick hair you may want to avoid it. It's used for fine and thining hair to help thicken. It also makes my hair grow a little faster!

Try the Pantene range, they're quite good. The Hot Oil treatments by VO5 are good, but you can only use them once a week pretty much. Have you tried anti-dandruff shampoos? That will help with the dryness of your scalp, and keep your hair from getting all flaky when it's dry.
I use the Fructis stuff by Garnier, which is very good for my celtic skin.
I have to wash my hair every day otherwise it gets oily and greasy and flat, so that not washing your hair thing doesn't work for everyone.
If you need more suggestions let me know! I'm the hair product queen.

I had tried Pantene before, I have really thick coarse hair and I felt the Pantene left a residue and weighed my hair down...

I'm going to try the Infusium..and I might swing by beauty brands on my way home.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Munckin what would you suggest for a dandruff shampoo? Like I said in my earlier post my scalp seems to be getting dryer and dryer. Maybe it's the house I'm in now? Anyway.... it's starting to annoy me and if I'm noticing it, someone else probably is too.

Can you use dandruff shampoo with conditioner?

hmm. The shampoos I've tried are Fructis, Head and Shoulders, and Selsun. I like the Head and Shoulders the best, but it strips your hair of colour if it's dyed, so Fructis is better for that. Selsun is also quite nice.
You can use conditioner with dandruff shampoo, but it's better to get one in the same brand, or a 2 in 1 if you can. Otherwise it can weigh down your hair or make the dandruff worse.

I use a dandruff shampoo b/c my co-worker said I had flakes when she would check my hair. (If I find lice on the kids, you bet I'm checking my hair too.) I use it every day, and follow up with pantene conditioner. About every other day, I use it first and then use my normal shampoo and cond. Seems to work for me.
I wish I could go every other day washing my hair. Mine gets too oily and nasty looking.

I have very thick course hair. When my scalp started getting dry and sensitive I used Head and Shoulders Sensitive scalp and Pantene Conditioner. I used that for a few years. Now I use Dove shamp and cond. I love them and they have kept my scalp flake free and healthy too!

I use Pantene (I actually use Relaxed and Natural because it makes my hair easier to style) and once a week I use Revlon Smooth Down Butter Treat. I the Revlon. It smells good and makes my hair so soft. I have a hard time with my hair, it's incredibly coarse and thick and unruly, but using those shampoos/conditioners and then putting some Smoothing Lotion in it I can *usually* get it to behave.

I have horrible problems with dryness and flakiness in the winter... the best thing ever. Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo. It's smells kinda minty and makes your head all tingly then like your mouth does after you've had a mint or used mouthwash.

I've seen the Tea Tree shampoo - I'll give that a shot along with the Head & Shoulders.

I love the Dove shampoo & cond. too - love the smell - but it hasn't helped with this. It's not bad or anything, I'm just noticing a flake here and there so I'm hoping something will work quickly to put some moisture back on my grape!

Heather don't use the Tea Tree for too long of a time. When I did that (used it for an extended period of time) I found that it ended up drying out my hair. But short bursts of time is ok. Just my

That's good to know Steph - thank you! I don't want to dry anything out.
