Check Out Wholesale Florists
Submitted by: Cheryl Galvez

I was shocked by the quotes I was receiving from florists for my wedding flowers! I value the beauty and symbolism that fresh flowers bring to a wedding, but let's be realistic—they'll be wilting before you can say "I do." One shop quoted me $200 for my bridal bouquet! After talking with friends, I decided to buy my flowers from a wholesaler and do the bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres myself. All I needed was floral tape and wire (supplies available at a craft store). The only exception was the big floral arrangements and my bouquet which I ordered from the same wholesaler. They only charged me $75 to make my bouquet. I also saved money by making bows out of tulle instead of using flowers as pew decorations. Bottom line — hunt for a wholesale flower company. When you look back you don't want to groan because you spent $1200 on flowers that are no longer around.

Arrange Your Own Bouquets
Submitted by: Julia of Fairborn

You DO NOT have to spend big bucks on flowers. I have never made a flower corsage in my life, nor am i overly crafty. My mom and I bought the floral tape and a book and I went at it. For the price of one corsage from a florist, I made all my corsages and boutinierre! My next step is making my bouquet. But don't let that scare you either. If you can make a corsage, you can make a bouquet! A cascading one even! It's easy. So don't get discouraged that you can't afford expensive flowers, just go to your local craft store and check out some of the wedding flower books that they stock!

Choosing a Florist
Submitted by: Kim of Fayetteville

For anyone "freaking out" over the cost of their wedding flowers, I would like to offer a little advice. First of all, use a florist that you either know or have been referred to by someone you trust. Ask to see sample photos of work they have done. If you like what you see go from there.

The most important thing up front is to let your florist know what kind of budget you are working on. He/she will work with you to keep it at the level you can afford while being honest about what will look nice. For those on a tighter budget, utilize lots of ferns and candlelight to supplement the fresh flowers and to give your ceremony an elegant look.

Picture of Groom
Submitted by: Suzanne of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, USA

It is always nice to have a picture of the bride and groom on the inside of the bouquet (not the throw away bouquet). The bride will be more relaxed when she can occasionally glance at the picture on this special day. You can cover it with plastic and it will be a beautiful keepsake.

Default May a professional florist join in or is this blog for brides only?

I would love to help with some questions - but don't want to join in if
professionals are to post here.

Best Regards,
