Default going to register

My FMIL wants to go this weekend and help me register at Bed,Bath and Beyond. I hope this goes smooth! I was trying to FH to go, but unless we are going to Sears in the tool department, he wants nothing to do with it.

Actually, registering for some tools that you both could use might not be a bad idea unless you already have the basics. Registering for a table saw might be a bit much, though.

Thats how Josh was too! I practically had to drag him there, but then once we got there he was like a kid in a candy store! MEN!

Yeah, you need to play up the scan-gun angle. My DH didn't want to go to the first place with me, but after he got to play with the gun, he was all about going to the other two locations where we registered.

Like Suzy said, "MEN! "

I talked to my FMIL today, she told me that she want me to register at 3 stores this weekend. I know 2 of them, but never heard of the other one (please don't ask me what the name is because I don't remember it now). I really don't want to register at the second store either. I told her that I was only going to register at 2 stores. I was going to do BB&B and Target. I think that is plenty. I don't want to do too many stores. I have a feeling this will not be as fun as it should be.

Stand your ground women you know what u and fh want and need. If you don't want to hurt her feeling take your time at the first two stores so u won't have time to go to the last store. Enjoy your self!

I agree. This is what YOU and FH want to register for, not what FMIL wants.

Just do your thing, I'm sure it will be okay. Make FH go to ease the tension...at least then you can know it will still be fun to watch your FH get excited over the scan gun like a little boy!

FH has a all day class that he has to attend. So no way he can be there.

How did it go? Did you go with your FMIL? Did you register where she wanted you to???

So what happened? There is no way I'd go with either my Mom or my FMIL. I'd die. They'd be like "Sweetie, now you HAVE to get these brandy sniffers...if you don't, no one will be able to sniff brandy when they come over! lol... I'd go nuts, seriously. God bless you for toughing it out. Let us know how it went!!

Complicated woman, sorry I don't know your name and yes, with a little investigating I could find it out, but I'm bushwacked and ready for bed right about now. By bushwacked, I know it could probably have a bunch of meanings, or none..but I meant...tired..not drunk or anything
Anyway, just wanted to thank you for laughing at me.

Sorry ladies, I forgot to post how it went. I had to go and get my ring looked at and cleaned, so we had to go to one of the malls nearby. Bed, Bath, and Beyond was not there, so I did register at one of the store she wanted. BUT I did not register for a ton there. I ma going to register somewhere else and if I find some things at a better price there, I will take it off the first registery. She kept on me about a new cofee maker, but we just got a new one about 6 months ago, so I really dont need a new one. She scanned one thing, that I am not so sure about, but then again I really don't think people will buy it anyways. It was not as bad as I thought it was going to be, but I could tell she really did not want to be there. i told her that I would go myself but she tiold me she really wanted to go. She wanted me to pick a china pattern out, but I told her #1, FH was not there and I think he needs to be part of that, and #2 I really dont want any china at this time, we have nowhere to put it. She pointed out crystal picture frames that she liked. She was not happy when I said I did not like them. They were too frilly or something. They were not be at all!! She told me I should get them and I would grow to love them in a couple years . I did not scan those pictures frames.

GROW TO LOVE THEM? I'm hysterical laughing. Tell her maybe you'll grow to love her over the next couple of years too.... hahahaha - I'm only kidding. See, that is exactly how my mom or my FMIL would have been also. Telling me what I like and don't like. And then getting seriously DISAPPOINTED in me if I didn't accomodate their wants and desires. How funny. Anyway, I'm glad it wasn't to painful for ya!!

Just a word of caution to those that have not registered at Bed Bath and Beyond yet...I work there as a bridal consultant part time, and now the corporate offices are demanding that we make or force each couple to register for fine china, gift cards, and atleast 5K worth of gifts. We are actually getting graded on the numbers that we get too. So beware of pushy bridal associates when you go in, and remember, no matter what they tell you, you don't need 4 gifts per invited guest, or three sets of sheets, or anything else that seems out there...

No problem, the one thing that I forgot to add though...

Generally, any bed-in-a-bag set has the same barcodes. EX) If you scan a blue bed in a bag in full size, the pink one on the next shelf over might have the same number. So, when your guests go to shop, they might pick out something that you didn't actually register for. There are a few things that work like that...

coaster sets w/o brand names
bed-in-a-bag set
all art pieces (framed or not)
yankee candles
some sheet sets (mostly labeled any size 19.99)

It gets so confusing after a while, I used to feel really bad for the people that came in.

Good Luck!

Jessica, thank you! By the way, are you able to confirm whether or not they offer a discount to the bride for items not purchased from the registry after the wedding?

Yes Cru5h, they do offer some kind of discount, but that too has its catches. What they mail you is a coupon one month after your event for 10-15% off your remaining registry items (it depends on the store on how much of a discount they give you). The catch is that you only have one shot to use it, meaning that you have to shop for everything left on your registry at once to get the discount. The nice thing is, once you register, you get the general store coupons in the mail every month or so for 20% off any single item, so it gives you a way to save each month for something new. Plus, your registry is archived for 10 YEARS after your wedding!
