Default Just keeping track

*flips hair* So like, I'm set for October 14th so far.

Done:
I know where and what time we'll have the ceremony. It's set. We just show up at the beach with all our guests.

I know where and what time we'll have the reception. I still need to plop a deposit out but that's coming very soon.

Richy's handling the honeymoon (to Puerto Rico). We aren't honeymooning until March of 2007 though so we can run less of a risk of hurricane. Our wedding date is bad enough

To do:
  • Get a dress I really LOVE. The one I have now, I only LIKE.
  • Prompt Richy to think about the music for the reception. DJ or iPod?
  • Come up with a definitive vibe for the centerpieces at the reception.
  • Once I find the vibe I'm looking for, buy stuff to DIY it. (should be DIM)
  • ...and favors - really cool ones.
  • Get stuff to DIY the ring bearers boxes... will be buying from Pash most likely. Already saw what I like
  • Call and find out, for sure, if I have to rent table linens or not.
  • Call their cake places and arrange a tasting sometime this century, plus check out how fancy schmancy they're willing to go with a cake that is included in the cost of reception.
  • Buy stuff for the Message in a Bottle invitations once we're 100% sure of the date. The longer I put it off, the more sure I will be that I want that kind of invitation.
  • Decide what the girls are wearing - buy it.
  • Decide what Richy's going to wear - buy it if it's seasonal (Guayabera - Wikipedia info)
  • Get one for his brother if that's what Richy decides he wants.
  • Make sure they both have shoes. Neither will go barefoot/open-toed sandals, but they can't wear sneakers!
  • Decide what the boys are wearing - probably similar to the guayaberas if they go with that.
  • Make sure all the kids have appropriate shoes for their outfits.
  • Decide if I want my "MOH" to be a MOH without as much reponsibility, so she can only participate in the things she is able to. (She's the one with the messed up back and fibromyalgia.) She would probably like to throw my shower. That's her bag, and she can do that over the phone using her connections.
  • Buy WP gifts. Not sure what yet. I will get a feel for it later. Maybe Richy and I can plan a trip with the girls as a gift. They are dying to go on a cruise. Perhaps a Bahamas day-cruise is in order. We could bring his brother too. That'd be fun for all. If not that, then something personal for each of them.
  • That's all for now... I think...

I plan to keep my info here rather than the "bridal journal".

*screaming* THEY DISCONTINUED IT! ahhhhhhhhhhh lol

For the ring bearers' boxes I was going to do:

with some crap inside (tissue paper, moss, something) and a medium/small starfish with a ribbon tied around it, also securing one of the rings to it. I will come up with something equally awesome though, fear not.

This is the reception place -

outside

One possible room we'd be in

same room, arranged for the ceremony

Sorry, I had to screen shot off a virtual tour to get the pictures, so they're blurry.

The ceremony place is shown in the photos here -

As for a dress, I am IN LOVE with the dresses being worn with boleros. But I don't want to be too fancy on the beach. The boleros I like are kinda poofy sleeves with a pretty thing fastening the front. I'll try to find an example later on. I gotta get outta here now!

I love EVERYTHING!

And men in guayaberas? :swoon: (did you know I asked both my Godfathers to wear them to my wedding? They looked goooood!)

Pls let me know if I can help you w/ the PR trip-planning.

Thanks Micaela, I appreciate it. Any info you have that you think would be helpful, send it my way. Once Richy starts considering things I'll show you and you can tell me if it's a no-no, 'cause we have no clue. He hasn't been there since the 70s I think, early 80s max.

n/p, my Godfather lives there and I have a friend I grew up with who also still lives there, so I have people to ask. She was even writing a travel section for one of the papers there. I can definitely find out for you where to go party, eat, and sleep on a dime. And what places aren't safe for tourists...

I want you guys to have an awesome honeymoon! Also, start thinking about whether you want to stay in one place the whole time and do day-trips or if you'd be up to driving around the island and staying somewhere different every night (which could be fun or stressful, depends on what you're up for). Or making a side-trip to Culebra Island (Flamenco Beach is incredible ) for a couple of days.

I'm not sure. I mean I only want a couple. I'm a real pain in the a** when it comes to having my picture taken. So I'm thinking just a few at the ceremony, and none at the reception... well, maybe I'll let some of my amateur photog friends do a few at the reception

My wedding party consists of a 15 year old girl, a 13 year old girl, an 8 year old boy and a 6 year old boy (and Richy's older brother who can never get time off from work ) We're like right across from the Bahamas here too.

Fallbride - I'm not a big fan of cut flowers. I don't want any for the bridesmaids, and *maybe* something small for me... maybe. I might end up doing a wrist corsage instead. This is a beach wedding, with everyone standing. I'm not walking down an aisle passed everyone in slow motion. I'll probably pass through them, giving a hug to my mom and Richy's, and a kiss for grandma It's just going to be a quick thing. We're more interested in partying with everyone later.

I LOVE everything you have planned so far! Man, if I wasn't coming back through Florida (from my wedding) the week before, I would totally crash it!

OK, now my uncle, who works for a large distributing company (food and paper goods), says he knows some people who started a catering company and he thinks they would give me a good deal (he *guessed* $25 a head) ... and his apartment is going condo (as are most south FL apartments these days, capitalist bastards) anyway, they're renovating the recreation area, which is waterfront and close to the ceremony site. We might be able to do that instead of the pretty place mentioned above. I'd be happy either way, as long as the renovation is complete and I can check it out soon.

So when did you set the date?!

Did I totally miss that part, or is this the announcement?

Your wedding date is my big brother's birthday and the day before my birthday

Do the kids over there get the October holidays? Is that why you chose that date? We always got our birthdays off school We were always lucky that they fell during the Autumn break.

We chose the date randomly. I didn't want a "winter" wedding. And summer is just too hot for an outdoor wedding. So we chose October... hurricane season There's no significance to our date really, except that it's close to the exact date we had our first date on. Neither one of us remembers what that date was LOL.

Vic, did you see these? They're on sale and similar to the ring bearer boxes you had planned on.

Hey Heather...
I'm on Long Island and NO to the country music stations. Somehow growing up here I'm still a country music freak, so my FH got me XM satellite radio for my car, now I have 4 country stations
