Default Bookmarks?

FH and I went and got our pictures taken and get to go see them on Saturday. (I promise I'll share when we actually get them.) If we put in our order on Saturday, we get a discount so I've been trying to think of what things we would like beforehand. One of the products available is a bookmark that would have our photograph encorporated on it. FH thinks it would be fun as favors. I keep going back and forth as to whether or not everyone else will think it's as fun.

We already have plans to hand out pens that we will personalize. The pens are already purchased so the bookmarks would be in addition to those. I thought maybe since we already have the pens, we could add them to the thank-you cards if he was really excited about them.

Honest opinion ladies and gentleman, would you think it was cute to get a bookmark with the couple's *face on it or think it's slightly cheesey?

*I don't think they're just our face, more a design or something with our photo on it somewhere (at least I hope.)

honestly because i only read school books at the moment, it would probably be a useful scrapbook token for me. (which is perfectly ok) ... i'd probalby put in my scrap book that i do for each year a page for someone elses wedding and that type of favor would go perfect in it!

if you have a lot of scrapbookers or readers, it could be perfect!

I think this is a close friends and family thing, like the discussion awhile back about giving out pictures of the couple as a favor.

IMO, a bookmark with the couples face on it is different than a framed picture of the couple because it doesn't anticipate display. I actually got a bookmark at a wedding a few years ago that had a ring shot of the couples hands on it and had the wedding date, etc printed on it. It's something I still use and when I notice it, it reminds me of the wedding and I smile.

I read a lot so I would probably use it.

Close friends and family = yes
Regular friends, coworkers, aquaintences = no

It's not because it's a bookmark - it's a bookmark with a photo on them. Eh, you know how *I* feel about photos LOL So that's where this is coming from, not from etiquette or anything. Entirely up to how you think people would receive them.

My sister did book markers for favorers at the wedding. They just had a thank you on them and a poem. If I can find one I will post a picture.

Cute idea? Yes.

Would I use it? No... but that's coming from someone who HATES to read. To be honest, it'd probably end up in the garbage.

I actually did this at my first wedding. (Well, XH did them. He misspelled a few words in the poem that was also on them.) I think if they had been professionally done, many of my family and friends would have kept them and used them, because we all do a lot of reading. Unfortunately, with the misspellings, the fact that they weren't laminated -- just plain paper, and the fact that the marriage dissolved, I'm sure that noone still has them.

Putting them in the TYs for people who you know will like them is a cool idea. But, keep in mind that the TY envelopes are very small (in general), and people will be less likely to use a bookmark that has been folded prior to their receiving it.
