Night and Day
OH MY!!!
I went to Alfred Angelo last week to try on dresses. I was left with a VERY bitter taste in my mouth. To say the service was poor would be an understatement.
No measurements were taken, a few dresses tossed in a room and then left to my own devices. Mom came in to help me into the dresses. Asked questions about alterations and got a shrug of the shoulders and the unltimate "I don't know" Asked about trying on dresses that had the features I thought I liked... got no help. Then the salesperson drifted off and we were left confussed and to assume that she felt our time was up. She started helping a girl that had ALREADY BOUGHT HER DRESS. She was quite attentive. On the way out the manager and 2 others salespersons were at the counter. I slowly walked by, wondering if they would say anything. NOTHING. I then said "GOOD BYE LADIES" and got NO response.
Dreading the next trip, we went to David's Bridal (have not heard much good about them)
It was an AWESOME experiance. The sales ladie talked about what I liked, what I wanted ect.. She went and got a foundation and crinoline for me to use when trying on. Had me pick out shoes ect.. She came in the dressing room and helped me into the foundation (bustier) and each dress. She gave great advice. Try sitting in it to make sure you are comfortable. Knew about alterations and was personable and pleasant. They even tossed another person at her and she was still attentive. She went above and beyond and made it an experiance every bride should have!!! She even looked up which stores have the dress I want to try on (in the correct size) We tried on a great dress and she brought out a veil that matched perfectly and a tiara so we could get the full picture. We were allowed to take pics ect. She was awesome and a perfect sales person. While she was a genuine sales person, bringing in the add ons as needed to make someone want to purchase, I never felt pushed or rushed. I felt like it was her goal to make each bride (in this case me) feel special and find the perfect dress.
I want to go back to her and play dress up!!!
That is huge... I was dreading trying on dresses
I don't know if all David's Bridal Stores are like that... but if they are I would recomend them to EVERYONE!!!

I'm really happy you found better service somewhere else and didn't settle for that crap. I'm also happy David's Bridal came through for you.

But I'm glad you found good service and had a better time at Davids Bridal. I personally have had no experience with them, but I'm glad yours was good!!

I'm glad you had such a good experience at David's Bridal. It's just too bad you had such a bad experience at the other place! Did you find "the" dress? or are you still looking?

I'll chime in... not all David's are that great. Most people I know that have used them have had horrible experiences with them. I'm glad yours was pleasant!
I personally only went to one place and loved the service and found a dress on my first visit. Talk about good luck.

I went to Davids Bridal and my experience was similiar to yours... when I was looking for my dress, when we went back to have one of the bridesmiads try on her dress, it was bad. The saleswoman at the front said we'll have someone with you in a moment go ahead and look around... we waited for about ten minutes. Then one of the girls came over only b/c she recognized my FMIL, they began chatting and finally she went over and opened a room for us, she was working with someone else, but answered a couple questions. I'm not sure how long we would have waited if my FMIL hadn't known someone.
I think it really depends on the individuals working. Also I found the overall experience impersonal, after working with the same woman by appointment several times, she did not recognize me when I went in to pick up my dress only a week later.

Do you remember the names of the girls "helping" you? I would call the manager and report the poor service--and maybe get a discount or something for your troubles.

I'm with MTGH I would call and ask to speak to the owner of the store. Not a manager since she was one of the ones not paying attention.

I went to DAvid's Bridal when I starting look for my dress. I only went there to see different style on me. To me DB thinks of you as another bride coming in... Get her in...get her a dress...get her out!! I did not want that kind of service. The dress shop that I went to is a small dress shop that will do anything for you, and remembers you by your name and by the dress that you ordered. They are great women!

I hate DB. That's all I can say without going on for pages and pages about the crappy service I rec'd.

My experience w/ DB was good, but not great. The saleslady did help me and my BM's, but she was so busy with the other people they kept assigning to her (eventhough I had an appt and they didn't) that she didn't have time to give us perfect service. So, I guess I liked my saleslady, but not the store itself.
I'm glad your experience was so good. Do you have any better idea of what you want in a dress now?

When I was "supposed" to get married in 2002 I had good service with DB. My dress is still sitting in MI with tags on it along with the veil.

I never went to davids bridal because i wanted a small shop to start looking for my dress. I didnt want to feel overwhelmed with so many dresses at DB. turns out i found the dress at the small shop so all was well!
Glad you had a good experience though!

I really think that I am going to have my dress custom made. I can get it done for about 1/4 of the typical price. I am just still overwhelmed with making a decision. I am planning a few more *attempts* at trying on dresses to help me select a style. I keep going back to 3 styles, but I haven't been able to try on those styles in anything close to my size to get a realistic image of which is best
I am hoping to go to the store here in town with a girlfriend next week... but I am not sure. It sucks that everyone lives over an hour away from me!!! Makes schedualing interesting
I wish all bridal stores gave top notch service, knowing they don't gives me such anxiety!!!

I use to work at BridesMart (now known asAlfred Angelo). Let me tell ya...avoid those places! The service there isn't that great unless you "look" like you are ready to buy a dress right then. It was all about the commission.
I went to DB a few times and never liked their service either. My MOH and I went there to find her a dress and we never had anyone even help us to a room.

I bought my dress from David's. My experience was great--the dress I wanted was a little dingy and had a very small tear in the back, so they ordered it for me from a different store. It came in less than a week later. This was all for a discounted, discontinued dress. They also let me use my cousin's expired store credit from a dress return there 3 years ago. The girls working with me the days I tried on dresses were super helpful, even at 2 different locations.
Today, my mom and I went to DB looking for a MOB dress. They were busy, and still 3 different people asked if we needed any help.
