Default Any problems with DB?

While I was home for THanksgiving, I stopped in David's Bridal to see dresses and found a real pretty dress. My FH's SIL had problems with them (I think it was more her fault than theirs). Has anyone had any problems with David's?

I personally didn't even consider them when buying dresses. But, I do know of a few girls who have used them with mixed results. I think it's 50/50 on the service you get.

I know a couple people on here have had some great experiences with DB, but I also know some people have had really bad experiences. I think we've concluded that it pretty much depends on the individual store you go to, it isn't necessarily an entire chain thing.

I didn't order my dress from DB, so I don't have any personal stories about dealing with them. When I made appointments to try on dresses with them, everything was fine, but I haven't ordered anything from them. I am considering ordering BM dresses from them so I'm interested in hearing stories as well.

Let me put it this way - I would tie a chain around my leg and have it ripped off by a speeding 18 wheeler before I ever did business with them again. Ever.

It depends on the store. Some stores have good and some are bad. Go get a feet for yourself. Good way to tell is just go in and just look at BM dresses. I know at one store I went to if you were not looking at wedding dresses then they wanted nothing to do with you.

I got my dress there and my BM got theirs from 3 different stores (different states) and we had no probs!!

For every 1 good story I've read 10 bad ones here on the internet. Give it a shot though. There's no harm in that. Just know that you're dealing with a huge retailer and getting a personal touch has more to do with luck than the chain itself.

I had a few problems when I ordered my wedding dress there but they resolved them. Also, on a positive note, when my sister got pregnant and could not fit into her MOH dress the month before my wedding DB exchanged it free of charge for a larger size.

My sister got her dress there and had NO problems at all.

I got my dress there and had one MINOR problem--when I tried my dress on before I took it home, it was crooked. Instead of trying to fix it they ordered me a new one and it was in within 3 weeks. No problems with dress #2.

Many of my friends also got their dresses at David's and didn't have any problems either. Personally, I think that for their prices it's a good deal, but their "helper" ladies there are spread too thin--they each are always helping like 3-4 girls so they cannot give you their full attention which kinda bothered me but not really because I knew exactly what I wanted going in.

My SIL went there and was very happy with everything. We all got our BM dresses there and things went smoothly.

I went there to look for a wedding dress for myself and I didn't find anything. I didn't think the person helping cared too much though. She kept bringing the same stuff out even after I had said that wasn't what I was looking for. I think she was just trying to do too much at once and she said that it was her last day before her own wedding. She was distracted.

It must really depend on the area. I ordered one dress from them for my sisters wedding in 2004, and that is where I got my BM dresses for my wedding from, both from the store in Pinole, CA. I had great service, better than the bridal salon where I bought my wedding dress that is supposed to be one of the best in my area. But I have heard horror stories that would make me hesitant to buy at another DB location.

I got my gown, shoes & tiara from them. The service I received at the DB I went to was as good as at the bridal boutiques I went to first. I lost weight between buying the dress and getting it altered and they exchanged it w/o a hassle. I also requested they add a modesty panel to my strapless dress and they did a beautiful job. When I picked up my gown, there was an ink stain near the waistline and they got it out in an hour. My only complaint is that the bustle didn't come out as nice as I wanted. Overall, my experience was positive and I know of several other brides, one of them was very pregnant, who have also gotten their gowns there and been very happy.

I agree with others that it seems to be a crapshoot, as with any national chain.

Question

I have heard both some awful experiences and some great experience. I think it depends on where you live. Perhaps they are a franchise. You can check the Better Business Bureau. They track any complaints sent to them even if they are not members. You can run a check on line and at no cost to you.
