Grooms gifts
Any one got some inventive ideas on wedding day gifts for the groom? Some that you would like to receive from your FH (or did receive) would be a help too...
I have no idea what to get for Michael since he doesnt really wear jewelry. I'd love to get him a great pocket watch because i think they're sexy as all get out but i know he would have zero interest in it.
He of course has no idea what to get me and i cant think of anything either.

If you both don't know what to get for each other, but just feel like you SHOULD get something, I think I would be more practical about it, and decide on something you really need or that would be special for you. Like, let's pool our money and get a washer/dryer as our wedding gifts to each other (and make doing laundry a "special" reminder of your wedding day ) or let's give each other the gift of doing something REALLY special and romantic on our honeymoon, like a sunset dinner cruise or something. Otherwise, does he really like a certain sports team or have a hobby he really enjoys? I would start there for ideas if you want to give him something that would be special for him.

I didn't get my husband anything; the wedding was my gift. I spent the bulk of the $, and I did almost all of the planning, so I didn't get him a gift. He got me a gold necklace and a little plaque that had a verse about love inscribed on it.

I'm thinking about getting him a nice camera. I wasn't going to get him anything- but then I thought about it, and decided that we need a camera anyways.
Also- my cousins wife gave him an upgrade to First Class on the plane for their honeymoon, as their gift

I didn't get Josh anything. After all the wedding expenses I was broke! He got me a charm bracelet that had a heart engraved with my new initials on one side and the date and love, Josh on the other. For Christmas I got a little reindeer to add to it. Honestly, I think he got it for me so he would have something nice to give me for future occasions! LOL But I love it anyway!

We are not going on a real HM till a few months after the wedding. But for the wedding night we are going to Charleston to a casino. I had no clue what to get him and it came to me we are going to the casino and he wants a members pass so I'll just get him that. The members pass is $100 a year it's not really something that will have memories to it but lord I have no clue what to get him besides that.

Since we are getting married on the beach, I think I want to surprise DF with a heart and maybe our initials written in the sky.... but I haven't looked into cost yet.
I also like the idea of writing each other a letter months prior to the wedding, exchanging them prior to the wedding, but not opening until the day of.
You could also purchase a blank mini-book and fill it with poetry, quotes and special thoughts/memories. OR you coult print them from your computer and get them bound at a copy shop.
If you want to put alot of effort into something
some brides save this as a little gift for my groom, when they are not giving traditional gifts
Its a box of candles & a poem instructing you of its use...
A basket of candles that come in a pair
In all different colors, for you two to share
The white ones burn first
They are wrapped in white lace
To celebrate your first married night
In your new chosen place.
The green pair is taller, and also much thinner
Burn for the first company you have over for dinner
The dark blue candles are for your first fight,
Burn while making up all of the night,
Pink sets the mood and paves the way,
For your first married Valentine's Day.
Now, when your first year of marriage is through,
The cream anniversary pair light for you two.
Red candles aflame, both your futures are bright,
Promotions you've worked for with all of your might.
By this time we hope, maybe, just maybe
You can light the purple ones, on the birth of your baby.
And just when you thought you'd put these away,
Take the light blue ones out for your fifth anniversary day.
Now just one pair left for the big 25,
The anniversary pair will keep your love alive.
Congratulations (enter names)
On the start of forever,
May the two of you always be happy together!
And burn these candles just the way that we said,
But please don't forget - blow them out before bed!!
or
On the start of forever,
may we always be happy together!
Burn these candles just the way it's says,
But sweetie please don't forget-- blow them out before bed!!!
You can swap the colours for whatever you can get your hands on...
Or if there is something you don't think you can afford on your wedding budget to include in the wedding, perhaps you could pay for it and surprise him on your special day.
I also love the idea of your wedding gift being something you can both enjoy on your honeymoon. An extra trip, a couples massage, a FINE dining experiance, room service, or maybe wine, strawberries and a welcome basket from you upon arrival
My final thought is taking all that sexy lingere that you get at your shower and haveing some sexy bourdoir pics taken... just for him.

We had made a pact not to get each other gifts since we're spending so much money elsewhere (we figured we were each other's best gift anyway) However, DH surprised me with a pearl bracelet anyway to match my necklace (he gave it to my MOH to give to me that morning).
Funny story - my mom had given me a pearl bracelet at my shower a few days before. After I got DH's bracelet, I called him on his cell pone to thank him, and he jokingly yelled at me that my mother ruined yet ANOTHER surprise (we have a long history of doing that).

I would like to do that also, but I'm afraid FH would go off the deep end about another guy seeing me like that. Hrm....maybe I should hunt down a female photographer? Lol.
