Default BM gifts

Ok, I spotted some nice large purse/tote bags at a store today that were $10 each. They also had one in a color that each of my BM would like....so since I was thinking about getting them monogrammed tote bags anyway...what do you think? I could take them to a sewing place and have thier initals put on it, or just leave it plain like it is. And would that and a memory board (I'm making them) be enough for their gifts? Thoughts?

I think so. What exactly though is a memory board?

Kim, sometimes they are called French memory boards. It's just a board that has ribbons on it that hold pictures, notes, etc. I'll try and post a picture tomorrow.

sparklesweetie I think it sounds great. You could go to a craft store (Joann's or Michaels) and get the iron on letters and do it your self. It would save some money! You can also find bead letters I don't know how to explain them. I'll see if I can find a pic of it.

I think it sounds like plenty, I don't know whether they'd be better plain or monogrammed... Hmmm... Have you looked into the cost of having them embroidered?

I think that is great! I am thinking about getting them tote bags or something like them for my BM.

I recently made some memory boards and just wanted to tell you to make sure and criss cross the ribbon or it won't hold tight! I didn't and the pictures fall through because the ribbon isn't tight enough!

No, I hadn't thought to look at Oriental Trading, but I will keep that in mind. I also like the idea of putting little mirrors at the ribbon crosses. (I'll just glue them on top of the button.)
On the other hand, I'm still trying to decide if I want to get them all tote bags. I know two of them travel pretty often, and I figured most everyone can use a tote bag. But then I saw other stuff that matched their personality....maybe I should stop looking and just stick with the bags and memo boards. I'll stay in budget that way too, lol.

I think totes are a great idea and cost friendly. I love the idea of the memory boards, those are so nice to have. They will love it.

One of my co-workers makes totes and gave me a small monogrammed one for my shower. I used it the day-of to hold my emergency kit.

i ordered totes from nnichols.com for my BMs, flower girl, and me They were like $12 each. With an order of more than 5 items (I think that's how many) there was a discount that basically paid for shipping. They should be here within a week, so I'll let you know how they are. Embroidery was included with the cost. A ton cheaper than LLBean, and I don't have to spend time I don't have trying to find someplace else to embroider names on them.

I don't know how much cash you're willing to fork out, but I saw a few websites when I was trying to decide what I would give to my bridesmaids and if I was only going to have three or four bridesmaids I would get those personalized purses that you can get any picture you have put onto it and get little black onces done up and then have either a black and white or sephia picture on one side of something that would be personal and special. I think they do them at Walmart, but I don't know how tacky they look. I'd want mine to be something nice enough they could use it at the wedding like a little clutch or something cute.
