Default Puerto Rico

We've nixed the cruise. It just seems too involved for us in a year that has been nothing short of eventful. We really want to relax on our honeymoon. Puerto Rico's nice and close. Richy hasn't been there in an age, and I've never been there before. I'm hoping we can go and have a really relaxing trip. I do want to make a stop in the country to visit his cousin, but overall, I'd like a nice touristy experience LOL massages, sunbathing, snorkeling, shopping.... you get the idea.

Any tips.... ?
Anyone?
thanks

That's the reason we chose not to do a cruise. Not relaxing. I think its a great idea to just go and relax on the beach. Maybe stay at a spa And definatley somewhere that has a swim up bar!!!!

Not much in the way of tips, but when we took our cruise, one of the stops was San Juan. We signed up for a city tour. They took us to a fort (I want to say St. Christof, for some reason), then showed us Old San Juan, where they let us out to do shopping. We had a great time walking around Old San Juan.

BTW: Have you seen Dirty Dancing: Havanna Nights? That's where they filmed it.

Also, I was watching $40 A Day on FoodTV, and they did a show in San Juan the other day. http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/show..._38875,00.html

I'll fill everyone in on details once Richy sets the trip up. He's pretty excited about it. I think he used one of my "tricks of the trade on me"

He goes, "So what should we do for the honeymoon? The cruise is too much (time spent away from home, not money)." He knows I want to see Europe, but in telling me that the cruise would take too long he's eliminated Europe. So that leads me in to thinking what other places are nearby and suit both of our needs in a vacation. Why that only leaves the Bahamas (no thanks, we can take a day-cruise for that), Jamaica (not my kinda thing), Cuba (too much trouble to try and get in there) or PR... I believe I'll take PR He's [movie quote] tricksy and false [/movie quote]!

I have wanted to go for a long time. Now I've got to bone up on my Espanish since I never use it. I'm so glad I don't sound like an American when I speak Spanish...erm, no offense to anyone who does. I'm proud of my accent imitation capabilities. I've got a good French accent nailed too I just don't know any phrases.

k rambling. stop. bye.

The only time I've been to Puerto Rico was the short stop on my cruise. We stopped in San Juan. The area near the ports is kinda boring. The only interesting thing is the fort. My only advice is to stay as far away from the port as possible.

I'm going to suggest that he gets in touch with his cousin. She moved over there last year after living in CT much of her life. She'll know what's fun and hot, hopefully. Thanks for the tip too Margie

Have you decided what hotel you'd like to stay at? My cousins should be getting back from San Juan today. I'll see what they thought of their place
