Small Piratey Touches
This is kinda for me.... 'cause I'm the only weirdo having a touch of pirate at their wedding but I'm all about sharing I just need a place to record my ideas on this.
This is the site I'm on right now:
http://www.deadmentellnotales.com
I'm working on filler for my message in a bottle invites (stolen from Breezy's idea)
So far I've got...uh... sand
And I want to get a few seashells, but this area of Florida isn't well known for its awesome shells. So I may have to purchase a bag of little ones. We'll see. Usually after a good storm some good stuff comes ashore.
I'd like a piece of sea glass (moon glass) in there since that's my absolute favorite ocean find.
But I think I want to find tiny Jolly Roger flags (with attached toothpick?) to slip in and bring the "touch-of-pirate".... maybe.
OMG *screaming about how cute these napkins are*
sorry... not for my wedding day. *cough* maybe a suggestion for the bridal shower though
Change of subject for a sec...
I'm thinking of providing these at the tables, just for fun...
I think they'd look cute in pictures and stuff
I looked through that entire site. I'm really aiming at not being *too* humorous, and not crossing the border of beachy feel to pirate themed wedding. I just want a touch thrown in here and there. Small things that will be like, "oh look at that".
I'm going to post more here as I find things...

Little touches will be cute.
I'd have the flags on toothpicks.
Just don't go overbaord I watched a Pirate wedding on Weird Weddings, they had sword fights and the whole bit, I'm all for non traditional but it was almost taken too far.

LOL! I saw that, too, and was going to post about it! It was crazy! They had cannons booming and sword fights, etc. I think it was set up like they captured the bride and the families (all dressed like pirates) had to battle it out! I'm assuming the groom's family "won" and got to steal the maiden. I don't really know how a couple likes pirates THAT much that they'd go through all that.

Yeah, I'm not all "pirate everything!!" I just want a little "That is so Vicky & Richy" in there. He's passionate about Nascar and the Redskins...and the Steelers. But I'm not. Pirates (Golden Age of Piracy type stuff) are the one thing we both really like a lot, and everyone knows it. But we're not fanatical about it. There are no Jolly Roger flags in our house or anything. But we steer toward materials, things, decor that is reminiscent of that time (1700s 1800s) where someone would notice there's a theme about the house but they can't say, "ARRRHHHHHH," for certain.

Ohhh, this pirate name thing is way cooler than the one I found! I LOVE my new pirate name.
Bloody Charity. Arrrrrrgh, me hearties.
On the topic of the reception, I like the little treasure chests on that site a lot, Vic. The dark brown one's that are 49 cents would be really cool favor boxes, IMO. And the silk bags with the Jolly Roger on it are awesome, too. I'd totally do a Pirates treasure thing at a reception, I think that would freaking rock.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to buy mine for quite some time (the party depends on finishing the house, which hasn't started yet). So just hoping they'll still be available 8 months to a year.

So now I can choose between Mad Ethel Rackham and Yardarm Constance. Hmmm... I just don't know. I like the way this second naming system works. But, I really like being Mad . Hey , maybe I should be Mad Constance Yardarm. Just to mix it up a bit!
