Default looking for different ideas for EVERYTHING! lol

We're contiplating a different idea for our invitations. Michael is super computer saavy so hes going to make a slide show (NOT a powerpoint) with pictures of us growing up and with our families and together all fading in and out and layered on top of each other. At the end of the show, it will all fade out to the invitation that will look like a traditional paper invitation. Also on the cd will be links to RSVP via theknot and links to our registries. At joann's they have little silver cd tins that we'll put a red or black bow around (our colors are red, black, and silver).

After the wedding we're taking everyones digital pictures and putting them all on a cd so everyone has all the pictures...

Any one got other creative ideas for centerpieces, flowers, attendent gifts, and favors???

Yea another red, black, and silver!
I think that would be a great invite. Different but I give it
How are the people that don't have a computer going to RSVP?

My centerpieces are tall vase with flowers.

my flowers is 18 hand tied roses, the girls will have 8 hand tied red tulips. I might change to white tulips for the girls not sure yet.

4 our favors we are doing a candy bar

ooo i like the candy bar idea!

Everyone that we're inviting have computers and internet access. The only two people that dont are his grandmothers. In their case, we're going to give them a photo album with all of the pictures in it and the printed out invite in it.

I posted in another thread that my brother and SIL used candybars as favors. It had our last name on it and the date of the wedding and on the back the ingredients said stuff like love, respect etc.. Because it was expensive for the whole candybar from the manufacturer they just ordered the labels and then bought hershey bars in bulk and placed the wedding wrappers on themselves and saved $$$. The wrapper was the color of their bridal party dresses.

Other friends have made CD's and gave those as favors with their picture on the CD and picked songs that were meaningful to them.

Your invites sound awesome...I have a program that makes the slideshows and puts them to a DVD...it's called "memories on TV"...I've made a ton for friends with kids, and old family photos...it's fun.

Does everyone have computers with which they can view the cd? Also, if I were given a cd of someone else's wedding pics, I don't think I would look at it often, probably not at all. (I'm just being honest, not trying to be harsh.) I would probably do it for very close family and friends only.

If you google unique favor ideas you'll find a bunch. I really like the stuff on HansonEllis.com.

Agreed (no big surprise after that poll I made, heh). I wouldn't look at the photos if it wasn't the wedding of... actually I can't think of anyone I know that well that I'd want to look at pages and pages of their wedding photos. Sorry But I may be in the minority on that. I have no siblings.

yeah i read something else in a different section that said pictures other than to family are a no no... but MOST of the guest list (probably 75%) IS family. Like we have photos of his brothers wedding at our home (we love family and family pictures) and they have pictures of us framed in their homes too.

But thanks for the headsup... definitely consider who we'll send it to

Yeah, ever since joining this forum (almost a year ago) I've come to see that each wedding is an individual thing. They vary regionally, and even by couple, as it does in your case. Only you know for sure how your guests would respond. don't get discouraged. We all answer with great honesty here, even if it's something you might not want to hear, but we also accept that you might not agree. Have fun with it, it sounds like a fun project anyway.

I dont know how extensive you want to get in the decorating of the tables but here's an idea if you have round tables
for a bit of color on a white tale cloth run pieces of ribbon in your colors across the table in different directions so they all meet in the middle under your centerpiece kind of like an asterik.

Wider ribbon works better and I dont suggest on with wire.

It was really pretty but we only dressed like 6 tables for a larger wedding it could be a pain.

Yeah it is included with the ceremony/reception site. We have so lucked out with this place we only pay for the food and parking they include so many extras. (i.e. the cake, the most incredible and unique chapel, all beverages/including beer wine and Champagne… etc.)
