cake anybody?
For those of you who had your wedding already..... What did you wrap the cake in for your guest to take home? (if you did not serve it there) Some people use napkins, some use cake boxes... I am not sure what to use for ours.
Thanks

I thought about getting little white "candy" boxes. I have never actually gone to a wedding where cake was sent with guests. And I know the place I'm ordering my cake you pay per person, so do you really have leftover cake to send?

I know the weddings that I have gone to, some people do not eat the cake there. Some couples will have it wrapped so those people can take the cake home with them.

I never really considered this option, I figured anything that was left could go home with us (as we aren't taking a honeymoon until Dec.) and our family can eat the leftovers with us.

With all the food we will have to eat there. I just think it would be nice for the guest who choose not to eat the cake there can take it home to enjoy. I have never been to a wedding that didn't have a lot of left over cake.

I'm sure they had leftover cake I had just never seen it taken home. I've heard of it and my caterer said she'd cut serve and wrap it.
I'm not sure how it will be handled at my wedding guess I should ask/decide. The cake is being served as a dessert with the sit down dinner. We're cutting the cake before dinner to get the ceremony of it out of the way, as well as to be able to have it served.

Hmmm... that's a good question. I have no idea how people took cake with them! But I know some people did!

I bought cake bags at a party store. They were on clearance for $2.00. They worked wonderfully.

Hmmm... I've never been to a wedding where that was done. Never heard of it. Either you eat the cake there or you don't.

I never thought about it... except for that top tier, I have no idea what happened to the rest of the cake.

Where I come from we have cookies at the reception. I know some people have never heard of that, but we do that. So when they cut the cake either you can eat it there or you can take yours home. I am not sure on what to wrap it in. I have been looking into what LJ is doing. I am thinking that is the way to go.

I've never heard of not serving the cake. I have heard of sending the leftovers home with guests, but not their peice to eat. I guess I would just put it in a little cake box or the take out box like someone else suggested.

They do that in my hometown, too. I never understood it.
Where you're from do the cookies go out as dessert or as an appetizer?

I think they will be there at the begining for people to munch on and their is a ton so they will be there all night.
I know when my brother got married (a long time ago) my mother made 155 dozen cookies and we had to take them to the wedding (5 hours away). They covered them up till the end. The bride's family was coming up with bags so they could take them home. The bride's family said they never heard of cookies at a wedding.

would you consider glassine envelopes? We are having cookies with our initials as favors and wrapping them in a glassine envelope..I've seen this done as "cake bags" with personalized information on it...

A good resource for paper type products. There is a large selection of food containers with this link.

I considered giving the guests a piece of groom's cake to take with them (because of the southern superstition), but it wasn't worth the trouble for me.
I've never heard of the cookie thing.

I have never heard of giving the guests cake to take home, much less providing containers for it. Where I live, we serve the cake at the reception. The bride and groom get the left-overs.

The Southern tradition is that single women who take home a piece of the groom's cake and sleep with it under their pillow will dream of their FH.

Oh, ok, that explains it. I never heard of the groom's cake before Bliss/Pash, either. It's so interesting learning about all the regional and cultural differences in tradition.
Hmm, well, that would make some mess. Do people REALLY put it under their pillows?!?!? My piece probably wouldn't last the ride home!

I think I am confused.....
I served the cake at my wedding but the left overs we put in cake bags and sent them home with any guests who wanted it....the hotel packed them up and set them up on the table. Guests could grab some if they wanted on the way out. We could not keep all of the left overs because we left for our honeymoon immediately afterwards.
lt- I love the boxes.

The reason I'm doing the boxes is we are having cheese cake for the grooms cake and I know most people will eat it. I don't like cake so I know the only piece I will eat is the first bite. So we just want to give the option to the guest who want cake but can't eat another bite.
