Default Registry Cards

Hi Sharon,

Thank you for taking the time to visit the Pash forum.

I'm the Matron of Honor in a very close friend's wedding. When she registered the stores offered to send her registry cards. Is it acceptable to put these in bridal shower invitations? I think it's against etiquette and she looked a little disappointed when I told her that. I'm trying to be helpful without hurting her feelings. I want to do as she asks (and will), but I want to save her from going against etiquette if I can.

Thank you!

Default Registry cards are okay

This is one of those areas where wedding etiquette has bent a little bit. Now, it's perfectly okay to include registry cards in shower invitations ONLY, never in wedding invitations. The old rules -- as of just a few years ago! -- stated that you never put anything in any invitation about gifts or registries, but that's faded off in favor of making it easy for the guests to locate the registry, and for the couple to get great gifts that they need! So those little registry cards are fine, and guests have commented that they're happy to see them in an invitation, since it's such a pain to have to make calls or do a search to find out where the couple is registered.

It's great of you to keep etiquette in mind for the bride, and you're all clear on this one!
