Question Wording of invite to reception

Hi, Sharon! So glad that I have an expert here to ask!

My fiance and I are taking my kids and getting married in Turks and Caicos--no one else is invited. We will, however, have a cocktail party at home to celebrate when we return (possibly a few months later, due to house construction). I was thinking of doing something fun like a "message in a bottle" invite (stealing another member's idea here ). I want to mention something about them being in our thoughts during the wedding--but then I also would like to keep it fun rather than formal. What would be the proper way to word the invites?

Thanks in advance!

Default Invites for post-party

Absolutely, the invitations can be fun rather than formal.

Most couples in this same situation send out invitations that read:

We'd love to share our wedding celebration with you!
On (date), we will be married on Turks and Caicos
together with our children and warm thoughts of all of our loved ones.
We invite you to our reception upon our return at:
[details]

Notice you start off by saying you want to celebrate with them, and then you get into where the wedding will be and the fact that it's just going to be you and your kids (in case anyone gets unnecessarily concerned that others were invited -- now they have the facts). You can add something about the dress code on the bottom of the invitation so that guests know what to prepare for. Be fun and use your sense of humor on the invitation, or print a great quote on the bottom of it. Some couples deliver a message that they'll drink a toast on the beach at sunset in all of their guests' honor. 'Can't wait to celebrate with you!' is also a good closer.

If you'd like other examples of invitation wording, just let me know!

S.

Well, of course she doesn't mean us, silly. She's just not inviting any of those people she knows IRL. All of us Pashers will have to be invited! LOL

Hehe, I'm honestly suprised that nobody's broadcast their ceremony/reception on here. It's an idea though, isn't it Steve?

If I recall correctly from the old forums, Margie wanted to broadcast the birth of Natalie on here. Let me know, Margie, and I'll send over the equipment!

If I knew how, I'd do that!

Hey, if any of you happen to show up at Beaches resort in Turks and Caicos on October 7, I certainly won't turn you away!

Are you insane?!?!?! Ya'll will just have to handle the text messages and phone calls that Heather and Sparklesweetie will get. Then you can have pictures after I'm home.

We will take a video camera with us... but I don't know how to upload video to share. The birth itself will NOT be videotaped. I have no desire to remember it.

(Sorry to hijack your thread, Jen!)
