Sunflowers and blue--do they go together?
Do you think it would look okay to use sunflowers, if my girls dresses are ice blue and fresh blue (one shade lighter than navy)? Or any other suggestions for flowers because I am at a complete loss for what to choose--the wedding is taking place in a church and in September.

I think a blue like this:

goes well with sunflowers, but an icey blue kind of clashes with the summery vibe of a sunflower...unless it goes more toward baby blue instead of icey. Like this:
I don't know what you mean by "fresh blue" but if it's similar to any of the above, then yes, I believe they go together.
Are the dresses already bought? And, are you sold on sunflowers? This information might help other people answer your questions.

Welcome to Pash!! Congrats on your engagement! Post your story in the bridal journals section so we can get to know you!!
I think that would look great. Do you have pics of the dresses you could post so we can get a better idea of how it would all look together? Good luck with the rest of your planning! Let us know if we can help with anything!

I think that a brighter blue would work well, but I would like to see your colors in order to get a better idea. By the way, Welcome to Pash. Hope you enjoy it here! And Congrats!!

I have no clue what icy blue and fresh blue are, but "blue blue" and yellow would work beautifully together. I love sunflowers, and they would be BEAUTIFUL for a September wedding--a very autumn harvest feel.

I have had brides use sunflowers with navy blue. It is a striking combination. I'm not so sure about the lighter blue, however. With the darker shade, it makes a nice background to show off the bright yellow.

I agree a dark blue or brighter blue definitely go with sunflowers but icey blue doesn't sound like it would look quite right. I'm imagining something kinda silvery. If you like the look of the larger flowers, maybe a gerbera daisies in another color such as white or pink would work better.

the ice blue seems like baby blue, just a little lighter, the fresh blue is just like navy, but slightly lighter (not as dark)
thank you for your help by the way.

I really like the first color of blue that Cru5h suggested and think it would go beautifully with sunflowers. I'm not sure about ice/baby blue.
Welcome to Pash! Looking forward to seeing the pics you mentioned. Congrats on your wedding and engagement.

Consider the shade of the sunflowers. Are they more yellow or more orange?
Personally, I would go with a stronger hue than an icy blue, or any real pale blue.
Perhaps periwinkle, lilac, or a royal blue, accented with some plum or country blue? (I've pulled out my trusty color wheel and fiddled around with it for these color suggestions. It doesn't have color names, so what I'm calling plum or royal, etc., you might call something else).
