Default Stamps

I went to the post office to get stamps for my RSVP post cards. Grrrrr the only ones they have are .23 and I have to add a .1 to them. I don't want them to have ugly stamps on them. The .1 has a bird on them and the .23 has Wilma Rudolph. Who wants that on a post card. What did every one do? I know it's just a stamp but I want it to look nice.

How much are the ones you can get online? You can even get your own photo on them. A pic of you and Kenny would be really cute!!

LJ....Are they really post cards? Post cards should be cheaper for the postage. I thought it was .19 before. I would ask at the postoffice before doing anything.

I guess it's not worth it to just get the 39 cent Love stamps?

That was going to be my suggestion... but then I figured she chose post cards because they weren't as heavy and required less postage.

Why doesn't the post office have the correct postage for it? That seems kinda dumb? Maybe they were just out of the .23 stamps? Can you go back in a few days and get the .24 ones?

They told me .24 stamps has not come out yet. It would be the middle or end of March b-4 they come out. I've called around at a few printers and no one will scan them for me. See I already had pre postage post cards. One problem they are .23. Give me a break here why sale my mother these if I still have to add another stamp. After I talked till I was blue in the face they took them back. When CupieJen designed them for me I had to print 4 per sheet so that helped. So I went out and got the card stock and printed them all off cut them and now I can't get stamps. I'm going to talk to the mail lady over at the office and see if she can do any thing. I'm not really wanting to pay 13.99 for 20 stamps that is right at .30 a stamp. I wounder what would happen if I just put .39 stamps on them.

My post office told me that they didn't print the 24 cent stamps because they weren't sure whether the rate increase would be 1 cent or 2 cents. They knew that the first class postage would increase to 39 cents, so those stamps were printed.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about putting 2 stamps on the cards. They aren't the prettiest stamps, but they would look better than using a postage meter. That gives the impression that you ran them through a machine at work.

Talking Funny you should ask . . .

A few days ago I posted a thread in this section about custom postage stamps for wedding mailings and even posted a survey as well as a link to the existing gallery of stamp designs. The gallery is at http://tinyurl.com/7w5qy. There are 99 stamps designs and more will be added this week. More than half of the designs can be easily customized with your words, dates and even photos. If you go to my homepage you can get some ideas and instructions for easily customizing the existing designs.

I posted the survey because I was looking for input about what designs can be added or increased in number.

hey Marko, your post counts as a solicitation, so we'll have to ask you to keep that to the Classified section. I'm sure you had the best of intentions, but ya gotta keep that stuff out of the regular forums.

I don't know why he even posted that he sent me a private message with the same thing. If he would of looked at all the response he would of seen that we had talked about the same prices he had to share.

Question How about this...

Can't you wait until the new ones come out? I may have got the timings wrong but wouldn't mid-March be OK?
  • The 18th March would be 6 weeks till the wedding.
  • If it took a week to get the invites together & for them to be delivered that would take you till the 25th March.
  • If you gave them the rsvp date of 8th April that would give them 2 weeks to decide what they are doing and to get the reply back to you.
  • And the 8th April would give you a month before the wedding to get all the details together.

If none of this works for you then I'd say just used whatever stamps are available. I doubt anyone will even notice and I doubt you'll remember after the wedding is over!

for our wedding invitations, I refused to use the "Love" stamps b/c they were fugly in 2003 (the ones I saw this year are pretty). I was so mad. There was a series they'd printed with a female painter's work, I thought those were the prettiest stamps they had available at the time so we went with those. And we used the regular US flag stamps for the RSVPs (but we had cards w/ envelopes, so had to use regular postage). If I were to do them today, I'd go for the custom ones with our face on them, I think that's so cool to have personalized stamps! LOL, I guess that doesn't help you much, LJ, since you've already dismissed that idea but you *did* ask what we did, so now you know.

I believe what I will end up doing is putting the .39 stamp on them unless the new .24 nice stamps come out. It would be better then paying 13.99 for 20 stamps.

Did you get a chance to look at CafePress.com? I think you can create your own design for the amount of postage you want.
