Thanks. My Wedding Cake was the first Wedding Cake I did. I even had the stress of a power outage while trying to get the frosting to crust so I could smooth it out.

Rose~

It is really not that hard. I could copy and send you my book pages so you could learn. You do have to buy the tips then. Plus, I could give you the special recipe for the cake. My cake was only 5 box cakes. I was lazy and did not want to try to make them from scratch since I was traveling.

Another birthday cake I made some time ago. First time w/ cream cheese frosting plus I forgot to add all the powdered sugar in. Oops. He did not mind though.

Okay, I'm curious. It wasn't too hard to make the wedding cake? I've done a little (very very little, comparatively) cake decorating and have my heart set on a simple cake with sugared fruit. Here's a pic:

I kind of want to try making it. Maybe it wouldn't look like it was floating, but that would be okay. Do you think it's feasible?

With a little (or a lot) of practice you could do it. It looks like the biggest thing for your cake would be getting the frosting smooth. Looks like your family and friends will just have to eat a bunch of cake between now and the wedding

Wow you guys are good I can make the cakes and do the frosting but I’m not really good with the pastry bag. I tried to decorate a cake for my brother once and he asked how much I had to drink when I made it, lol.

CW~

I enjoy cake decorating so it was not to hard especially since all I did was frost, smooth, and do dots for the border. You cake to me would be doable. You have to feel comfortable knowing that you will be under enough stress and depending on how important the cake is to you another huge stress.

The cake looks pretty simple. Looks like 2 3" rounds or 3 1" rounds (per layer) and (* to * for the 3" only) *probably torted (sliced) in the middle of each 3" then frosted between the torte* and where the cakes meet. Looks like it is done in buttercream (BC) and smoothed out nicely (done using a very HOT knife or spatula after BC has crusted. Border looks like pulled dots sort of cannot totally sure. Then the little bit of design looks simple enough. Do you know how to do sugared fruit? Sorry I do not.

Oh, the floating is done by short pillars. Some people like that better bc it is easier to transport. Moving a stacked cake is much harder then moving single layers that you place onto the pillars once there (already in the cake just the feet from the cake above need to go in).

Very nice cake by the way. Hope I gave you information you were looking info. Not sure if you wanted all of that or not. Best of luck if you do try to make your own cake. If you do make sure you do a few trials first and post them.

LM: I saw it once on a cookery show, you just coat the fruit *lightly* in egg white, roll in caster sugar & leave for a white to dry out... It looks really pretty, esp. if you just do the bits where frost would appear if they were really frosty! (I'm not sure if that's clear, I meant like the way snow would just land on the top edges)
