Has anyone used these?
I saw these and thought they were cute.

However, they want $50 for 10 wands. Please, it's ribbon on a stick for pete's sake. I think they would make for nice pictures, and it solves my dillema of having things thrown at me.
Do you think it would be reasonable to make these? I'm not sure if I could find plastic sticks, but wouldn't dowel rods work as well? Tell me what you think.

I think those would be really nice. I like the idea. I think using dowel rods would work.

What the heck are they? Is it like those swirly ribbons they use in gymastics? My imagination is not too active tonight!

Lol, sort of. It's just ribbon on a stick...you wave it around while the bride and groom pass through. The ribbon is only like 18 in. long though, so not quite as long as the gymnastic version.

I was going to ask what it is too! I couldn't figure out if it was supposed to be a centerpiece thingy.
You could make 50 of them for $10!

I'd be a bit worried one of the kids would hit me with it when they're waving them...

That is why you only give them to adults. Oh wait my brother would hit me.

I think it's a cute idea. AND I think you could do a MUCH better job making them yourself.

Mine probably would too
I think you could definitely make them yourself, and I think doweling should do the job well... WTF is $50 for 10 all about? I swear they quadruple the price as soon as they add the word wedding to anything

Oh, yeah, that is a definate DIY project!!! How easy could that be!?! I think they are kinda cool. You have people doing something as you leave, but nothing to clean up and nothing thrown at you.. good compromise I think!

I was thinking bleeding head wounds, as well.
Though, as I just posted about LJ's candles, I have an automatic reflex of thinking what could go wrong!

At my old church, we had something very similar in the back for the kids to wave during singing (good ol' Baptist Church). You can just use a dowel and ribbon. Then just paint the dowel if you want it to not look like wood.
Also, they decided to shorten the stick part and lengthen the ribbon part at my church and then they had less of a problem of sticks as weapons. There was less there that would hurt.

I saw some the other day on ebay with bells. I think they might sound fun and pretty with everyone waving them---streamers flying and bells ringing

I'm watching The Bachelor in Paris...they are just going over all the past seasons and Trista and Ryan had these at their wedding. They had everyone wave them when they were walking down the aisle after the ceremony. Oh, and they were pink.

I like the idea of having bells on them I love that sound though...
And having a shorter stick sounds like a great idea too, they'd need less room to wave them too.

I think you could totally DIY. Wooden dowels sprayed white (and with glitter, of course ) and some nice ribbon tied to the top would do it.
