Has anyone ever heard of a bulletin board that lists the guests names and the tables they will be sitting at? We want to eliminate people walking around looking for the favir with their name on it and make seating go more quickly.
We were thinking about designing a bulletin board and listing the table numbers and names and putting it up near the guest book. Does this sound tacky?

At the last few weddings I have been to, the person manning the guest book was also directing people to their tables.

I hadn't thought of that! I didn't ask anyone to "man" the guest book.

All the weddings I have been at have had the favors on a table by the guest book with the guest's name and table number on it. For instance, I went to a wedding in May where the guest's names and table number were pre-printed and inserted into a miniature picture frame, then organized alphabetically by last name on a table by the guest book. Then, of course, the tables have to have table numbers on them so the guests can find them. It was very easy this way. The bulletin board idea reminds me of "Who made the cut for the school play, football team, chorus tryouts...etc." (No intention of being rude, just my thought :~))

I can't put all of the favors like that on a central table b/c I have to give my caterer an exact seating chart so I need people sitting in exact seats! If I put them on oone table, people will only know what table to sit at and may get incorrect entrees.

I was going to do this, but I ran out of time. People didn't have a hard time finding their seats, so the bulletin board wasn't missed.

The only way to ensure this is to put their names at their places. If you want to make them easier to find, you can either post a list-type thing like you're talking about, or put little cards on a table (they're smaller than favors, so you might have room). People pick up their card with name & table number, find table, then look for their name again at the seats.

What I suggest is having table cards, which has a guests name and table number on the card, and this is usually on a table prior to or right upon entering the reception room. The guests take their card to find which table number they sit at, and then there are placecards at the table to tell them which seat is theirs. This is exactly what I am going to do. And I'm not having any of these things attached to the favors. They will be their own thing at the place setting. I would go for this over the bulletin board, but it also depends on how formal your wedding is going to be. By the way, I bought the numbered cards for the table at Party America (don't know if this is in your area) for really cheap, and I also got the table cards there too. I bought printable placecards at Michaels.

Sorry - didn't know they were specific seats as well. I like labeadel's idea - good luck!
