Default necklace/earring advise

So I'm not a big jewelery person AT ALL.
I wear my engagement ring, a right hand 3 stone ring, sm diamond studs and a diamond journey necklace every single day and never take them off, not to shower or sleep or anything.

I'm looking for a necklace and earrings to wear for the wedding, just so that my neck doesn't look so bare (strapless dress for those of you who didn't see my journal). I don't want a choker but something a little longer. I don't even know what you would call it. My current necklace is 18"or20" and too long, it hangs past the top of the dress. And it can't be flashy or too big. I would like it to have some red in it or be onyx, but not both. And I want silver or white gold, not gold gold. And the earrings I want a little dangle but nothing more than a 1/2 inch or so. I guess I know what I'm looking for I just don't know what they would be called. And since I will probably never wear it again I don't want to spend more than $50 or so.

Any suggestions/advise/guidance would be great. Thanks ladies.

oh and I know I want a little more than just a pendant.

Pretty specific for not knowing what I want. LOL

I would skim through our classified ad section and see if anyone pimping a jewelry store has something you like. I'm not sure I would buy from most of them (b/c they're usually from out of the country), but you may get an idea of what you want.

I don't think they are called anything specific. I think you probably want to aim for a 16" or 17" necklace.

I just did a quick google search on garnet necklace for a few ideas; not specifically recommending any of these. Are you looking for something that's like more like a string of beads, or more like a chain with stones in the center, but not a pendant?

hmmm... I like the classy expressions site

this is one that I saw that I also liked on overstock

I also really liked the third one if it wasn't $100+. I like the 'V' of it

Default would this be an ok 'set'?

how about these two?
would it look ok to not have a matching set?

I really like the necklace but don't know what to do about the earrings?

I wouldn't worry about the set matching and how it would look to others. No one will notice because garnet can look similiar to onyx in certain light, and frankly if they did, no one would care. When it comes to jewelry, wear what YOU like. I doubt it would be noticeable in photos either.

Plus, they're both pieces that you could comfortably wear with other stuff after the wedding. Black goes with everything, and that necklace would look beautiful with an opened collared shirt or blouse.

I like those earrings. I agree with Heather, I don't think it's a problem to have the two different stones, and most likely won't really be noticeable. But if YOU want to have garnet earrings if you have a garnet necklace, keep looking. I'm sure there are some small drop garnet earrings out there. Sorry I don't have time to do more searching just now!

dont' apologize Nov. I appreciate your first search for me. Thank you.

What I ended up doing was ordering the necklace and two different earrings, the onyx one's and a sterling silver pair. Then if I don't like them I will keep looking around. But I will probably just go with one of them
