Default Bare Minerals

Would you use Bare minerals as a makeup artist at weddings?

Hello!

As a professional, I personally would not unless all the photography would be done in natural sunlight, and the bride insisted that I use it.

When you bring a flash into bridal photography, that's when you run into problems. Bare Minerals has a natural sunscreen in it which blocks out all forms of light, including flash from a camera. What you will see is a sort of "mask like" appearance of your face being slightly lighter than your neck/chest (it would be more or less apparent depending how much Bare Minerals you apply).

In natural sunlight, this is much less obvious so in that instance it would be ok.

Ultimately, the bride will do what she wants (as she should! It's her day) so a professionals opinion will only go so far if a bride has her heart sent on using mineral foundation.

There are many foundations I would suggest, but it depends if you looking to purchase them at a consumer or a professional level.

From a consumer standpoint, some great foundations that read well on camera and that you can find easily at your local Sephora or department store are:

*Make Up For Ever HD Foundation (http://sephora.com/browse/product.jh...egoryId=C13402)

*Lancome Teint Idole Ultra (http://www.sephora.com/browse/produc...dPaginate=true)

*NARS oil free foundation (http://www.sephora.com/browse/produc...dPaginate=true)

For professionals, you will need to have a large variety of colors to match any skintone. Therefore, palettes of creme foundation are generally the best choice as they take up the least amount of space in your kit and your can easily mix colors for the perfect match, and you can thin creme foundations down to a liquid with just a touch of thinner. The ones that most professionals have in thier kits are:

*Cinema Secrets Ultimate Foundation Palettes (http://www.camerareadycosmetics.com/...sP30-32&cat=21)

*Graftobian Hi-Def Glamour Creme Palettes (http://www.camerareadycosmetics.com/...etteG27&cat=21) or the Hi-Def Creme Super Palette
(http://www.camerareadycosmetics.com/...alettes&cat=21)

*RCMA Sampler Palettes (http://www.camerareadycosmetics.com/...etteP59&cat=21)

*YABY Creme Foundation Palettes (http://www.camerareadycosmetics.com/...7%2CY18&cat=21)

I hope this answers your question

Speaking of bare minerals, the reason i stopped using it was because i felt like it left a weird layer of something that looked like dust or something, is that the sunscreen "mask" youre talking about? I just always assumed its the powder formula not blending well w/my skin.

Yes, that is the "mask-like" layer that I was describing. For everyday, Bare Minerals (or any mineral foundation) is just fine to use as it has the natural protective sunscreen, but if you know you are going to be photographed while wearing it I would advise against it for the particular event

I don't personally use it but my sister does and she seems to like it. If it makes you look good, then you go girl!
