These are the two photographers we're looking at, just to show you some photos.

If you're looking for natural photos, you should definitely make sure your guy takes a lot of candids. No matter what, posed photos look posed, even if it's just slightly.

I'm sending you a PM with a link to my photos.
We didn't do a lot of "planned" photos - I just wasn't in the mood - but it's one of my biggest regrets. It's good that you are putting together a list and sending ideas to your photographer!
I've always liked the ones with the B&G/bridal party jumping up and down, or the "secret" photos that look like they didn't know they were being photographed (throguh windows or around corners, etc.). You should look at pictures of your site (ones w/o people in them!) and try to envision how you can use the setting - what scenes would make a good "frame" or background for a picture.
For example, there was this huge tree in the backyard of our farmhouse that had branches hanging down - so we stood under it between the trunk of the tree & the branches.
Good Luck!

I like the ones where they are technically posed but not the straight line of people. I am sad that all of our group shots are all the girls on one side and the boys on the other. It's very posed and standard. I've seen some where they mix the boys and girls up and put them in couples or little groups and some are standing or sitting, some are more forward or back a little bit. It's more like everyone is relaxed together, but still in a planned manner of course.
I am glad that I have the group shots but really my favorite photos are the ones that the photographer took during the day.

I agree, the more natural look of the pics the better. I am not a fan of the standard wedding poses, try something different. I like the extreme closeups of the feet togethor, or holding hands. Just some ideas!

Here you choose among the Wedding Photography styles
Reportage
This is the fly-on-the-wall style which aims to capture all the days best moments as they happen & which aren’t influenced by the photographer. This particular style will suit those who don’t want to spend hours posing for shots & for those who would prefer the more informal look reportage pictures give you. This is a great choice for relaxed, informal shots of all those spontaneous wedding moments!
Traditional
The emphasis with this style is on formal portraits of yourselves, your parents & other members of the wedding party. It will also include posed shots of certain moments throughout the day, such as the signing of the register or cutting the cake.
Contemporary
This option essentially gives you the best of worlds, combining traditional & reportage shots in one package. Some will be posed whilst others will be spontaneous shots as they happen. This will suit those who want shots that only a professional photographer can give them, such as those photojournalism type pictures that capture something really special.
Special Effects
Your wedding photographs can have special effects applied to help improve them. Here are the three most popular techniques.
Cross Processing - This is the process of altering the intensity of the colors to make them bolder. It is very effective for outdoor shots & can create a dream like almost surreal image. This works best though on non-portrait style shots.
Spot Color - This is the effective of coloring a certain part of the image which would be otherwise black & white. This is a great effect for enhancing bouquets of flowers for instance, but the subject needs subtle colors otherwise it can look gaudy.
Color Tints - This is when a color wash is added to a black & white image or when shading is applied to images to enhance the feel of them. This is a great for technique for photos which you want to make into wall art rather than applying it to just a couple of photos in your album, which may then look out of place. It is a good technique for warming up black & white images but should be used carefully.
Goodluck!
