String Quartet
For those of you that used them, or know the pricing...what's a good price? The people that I'm finding are around 650...and I thought that sounded high just for an hour or so. So I might be shrinking it down to a smaller string ensemble or a solo violinist.
Recommendations???

Ask at the high school if they have any seniors that would be willing to do it for you! I know around here the music programs are wonderful and the seniors would sound just as great as the professionals and then maybe you could offer them $50-$75 each and be saving $.

That seems steep to me. I would check the music departments at your local colleges. If that doesn't work, you might even check with your local high schools because there are some HS students that are very talented.
Does the $650 price include them meeting with you, practicing your music, attending the rehearsal, etc.? If so, then the price is more reasonable, but I still wouldn't pay that much.

I agree with the others, definitely check your local HS and colleges. You'll be able to get a much better deal and some students really are amazingly good.

No I think it's just the fee. For the day. I was like WOW!
Good idea girls about checking high schools. Our bands around here aren't fantastic but I'll see what I can find!!!

Just because the bands aren't fantastic doesn't mean that there aren't a few talented young men and women. What you might want to do is ask the band director(s) who the first and second chairs are for each instrument you want to have in the quartet. Those students will be the best out of the students that play the instruments you want to have in the quartet.
It will be better if you get students that all go to the same school. Otherwise, they might not have much of a chance to practice together.

Yeah good idea...I'll have to find a high school around me that has strings though...which might be tough. I know our high school doesn't have them.
