Hi everyone,
My friend recently got engaged and is getting married March 13, 2004. She needs ideas for her centerpieces, and I have a few, but would love to hear more!! She likes things simple, but elegant. A few of the ideas we have so far:
-Roses or flowers in a small vase
-The usual mirror and votive candles
-I have tall candle stands (that I bought for my own wedding a year ago) that we can use for candles or flowers
-Hurricane type lamp with candle
Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Ekaaj,

Here's a few more:

1) Floating candles in a bowl
2) Frames with photos of bride and groom, or love poems
3) mini wishing wells -- guests can put in advice, best wishes, etc.
4) I read somewhere about someone using unfinished clocks, and putting poems related to time & love
5) mini wedding cakes (instead of having one big cake, different round cakes on each table)

Has your friend looked at the Michaels website? There are several centrepiece ideas there: http://www.michaels.com/art/online/s...type=4&x=9&y=8

I think the ideas you and your friend came up with are great!

Before deciding to use candles, be sure to check with the reception facility to find out their policy about the use of candles. More and more facilties are no longer allowing them because of their fire insurance coverage.

The facility already supplies votive candles anyway. Most facilities here will let you use candles.

How about Fish. You can hire them and give them back when you have finished. They look great in a beautiful vase or bowl

You can "hire" fish? I like that! I have this picture in my mind of them swimming in in little suits for an interview!

Sorry, I've been working 3rd shift this week and I'm a little batty!

I can tell you what we're doing for our centerpieces ... several small bud vases with a single flower in each (stargazer lily); and we're "naming" our tables instead of numbering them, and our main centerpiece is going to be the name of the table with a story about why that name is important to us. For example, we'll have the Skyline Table, which is the club we met at. And we'll have the story about how we met there, and a picture of us there. We don't have many tables so it's worked out for us, and it's a little more fun than table numbers.
