Does anyone have good advice or good ideas about the best way to handle this task? We are interested in any good tips for making place cards, organizing the place cards, using bulletin boards, etc. Thanks

maybe you can intertwine it with your theme. at my fh's brother's wedding they had a subtile star-wars theme (he's obsessed) and they had a big card-board boba-fete and around his neck was the seating chart and they named the tables after planets from star wars. a little silly but it helped. and for my wedding we are having and england theme and our seating chart will look like a map of the london underground and tables will be names of tube stops (ie piciadilly circus, sloane square and glouchester road) and they seating cards will look like tube tickets.
or i have seen some people who buy alot of picture frames and place the person's name and table number in the frame.

When I got married, I made the place cards by hand (used cardstock folded into little "tents"). I assigned people to tables rather than to specific seats. I named the tables for famous couples (e.g., Rhett and Scarlett, Mickey and Minnie, etc.). I put the cards on a table as you entered the reception hall, and they were placed in alphabetical order on the table.

I'm going to have a large piece of heavy paper (maybe bristol board)? as the seating chart. It'll be on an easel when guests first walk in. On it will be an arrangement of how the room looks -- where the tables are, specifically. Each table will have a number and a list of the guests who will be sitting there. Then, at each table, there will be a picture frame with the table number and the guests who will be sitting there. That way they can choose where they would like to sit at that table.

holly...birtol board will work but you might find that when it is proped up the corners crull. it you don't mind spending a little extra (around 7 dollars) go to an art store and ask for a 1/2 sheet of illustration board (bainbrige works the best and ask for bainbrige 172 beucase it's a really smooth texture) it also won't flop over on the easel (also you would have to tape the bristol board) it will cost extra but in the long run it will be less hassle. i don't know were in ontario your from but if your near toronto or hamilton curry's is your best bet to buy it. just a suggestion though
