PLEASE HELP!?

I NEED HELP WITH A THEME FOR MY RECEPTION. THE FAVORS ARE CANDLES WRAPPED IN TULLE THEN PLACED IN A MINIATURE WINE GLASS & THE CENTERPIECES ARE NORMAL SIZE GLASSES WITH CANDLES INSIDE (THAT WILL BE LIT DURING THE RECEPTION) WITH GARLAND AROUND THE BOTTOM. AND IF THIS HELPS U HELP ME, WE WILL GIVE OUT BELLS INSTEAD OF BUBBLES OR BIRD SEEDS AFTER THE CEREMONY. I REALLY WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A THEME BUT I CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING.

You don't have to have a theme, and most couples don't. Decorate with the items that you suggest and it should be fine.

I certainly do not think you need a theme. As long as your decorations/colors are coordinated, that's all you need.

What colours are using in both the ceremony and reception? This could help, if you really want to have a theme. Also -- What is the ceremony site (a church, outside, historical building)? What is the reception site?

holly, our colors are black & silver, the ceremony is going 2b held at our church, & the reception will be held at a normal reception hall. (i.e. w/valley parking, waiters, catered meal)

Hi august bride,

I've been thinking about, and researching, possible themes that you may want to consider for your reception. As the other posters mentioned, you don't need a theme, but if you really want one, here's a few ideas that I came across:

1) New Year's Eve. That way you can use your black and silver colours. If you did this, you may want to have noisemakers or sparklers, and even do a countdown, of sorts. You could also use balloons, which may or may not be dropped when the countdown is over.

2) Art Deco theme. I've included a link that gives many ideas: http://www.jewishsf.com/bk980213/suppart.htm
It works well with the black and silver, and you could have a swing band (or play lots of swing music).

3)Black & Silver. A theme can be as simple as a colour. If you used these colours in the ceremony, you could just carry them over into the reception.

4) Moonlight Theme. This idea just sort of came to me. Your colours work really well with this one, as do having candles as favours. You could go with just this idea, or do a spin on it:
A) A Midsummer Night's Dream (Shakespeare's play) -- you could have someone do Shakespeare readings, and throw in some greenery so it looks like a paradise.
B) Arabian Nights -- use lots of sheer cloth or veils, maybe have jugglers or a magician, and you could have Mediterranean food.
C) A twist on a romantic city; for example, Paris. You could serve wine and french pastries, play French music, or (depending on how daring you may want to go) decorate the hall to look like an outdoor cafe.

I'll let you know if I see any other ideas.

I like Holly's last one (Paris theme).

Themes are good....depending on your the type of person you are. what are your hobbies? do you like sports? movies music. you do not need a "traditional" theme it's your wedding and it should scream out loud and clear your personality. so if you love monkeys and the jungle why not a jungle theme? or if your a book worm and have a book themed wedding like name all your tables after famous books. and you you don't even need a theme. a normal tradtional wedding is consicered a theme. Have fun

I'm using a Ocean theme. I have a dolphin caketop, I'm getting dolphin bottle openers as favors. My colors are ocean blues/greens. I plan to make seashell guest book. I'm making my own inivtations, and will either use a image of seahorse couple or dolphins.
