I used "To Sir With Love" for my father/daughter dance.

Honestly, I don't like the song "Daughters" by John Mayer. I really don't want my dad singing about me turning into a lover. Yuck.

If I remember correctly, it's also about a dad who walks out on his daughter. Not particularly an uplifting song for a father-daughter dance.

mind blowing

what are your suggestions about having 2 father daughter dances? I have a step father that is very much part of my life and my biological father that is eh. I want to include both of them but I dont want to bore the guest or have it uncomfortable for anyone. Whats your take?

I've had brides in this situation decide to pick an appropriate song and dance with each Dad for half of it.

You could also prearrange for one or both of them to "automatically" cut in with you once your first dance is over, as part of open dancing time. This is kind of stealthy and may not work for everyone.

Another alternative is to start the dancing with Dad #1, after a minute change the song and have your first dance with the Groom. Then dance with Dad #2 for a minute or so. This may be less awkward for all involved.

Please let us know what happens!

Thanks for the ideas!! I just am having problems picking songs ya no. My father and I have never had that "daddys little girl" type relationship. By time my step dad came into the picture I was older so I am still undecided on the songs!!!

That's quite a list, thanks!

I like the choice of "You Do Something to Me" by Paul Weller.

Mine will be "Daddy's Girl" by Red Sovine

We haven't always been that close either & I considered "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" but I didn't like the way it slowed down in the middle of the song.

"Daddy's Girl" was a favorite of mine when I was about 8 & at that time was closer to him (even tho I lived w/gr.parents at the time--he was on the road a lot.) Once my grandmother helped me call a radio station to request it for his birthday. So I listened to it recently & thought "yeah, it's got to be this one." He won't know what song until it's played.

Sorry, but I would not use Every Breath You Take by the Police. The song is about a stalker. Yikes!

Yeah but it's Sting as the stalker. If you have to be stalked, who better than him?
