I'm back!!
Here's what I typed up so you could know what happened that wonderful day! I'm glad to be back and am busy getting all my things unpacked and organized.
Our Wedding Day
January 22, 2006 Sunday
I woke up early and dressed quickly so that Daniel and I could go see my grandmother in the hospital before church. It was raining for the first time in months and looking to be one very wet and cold day. We finally made it to the hospital at 10a.m. and gave up any hope of making it to church on time. Although she couldn’t wear her corsage I pinned it onto the bed sheet next to her where she could see it. We spent a good hour visiting with Meme and my aunt from out of town before heading home. I managed to get everything packed for the honeymoon and pack a duffel with all I needed to get ready at the church. I arrived at 1 and found that all my wonderful friends and family had already finished all the last minute set-up and were getting ready to go home to get ready for the wedding. I went upstairs where my friend started my hair and make-up and well as my bridesmaids and mom. We spent three hours getting ready (with LOTS of help) and were ready in time for pre-wedding pictures at 4pm. Our photographer was great! He was an old friend of the family who knew me when I was a little girl. He had us done and out of there by 5:15 when my girls and I went into a back room to wait for the ceremony to start. It was then that we realized that the rain had stopped! It had been raining all day and was supposed to continue until the next morning. I was told that our pastor had prayed for just 2 hours with no rain during the service that morning….and his prayer was answered. In fact, it didn’t start raining again until the next morning!
I sat and waited impatiently for the ceremony to begin. Our friend who was catering the reception brought me a plate of everything they were serving since I knew I probably wouldn’t get to eat during the reception. The wedding coordinator finally came to get us to start the ceremony. Everything went smoothly and once the last flower girl had gotten to the front my pianist paused a moment before starting the Canon in D for my entry. Before she could start, the pastor (who happens to be FH’s dad) started the ceremony…”Daniel and Corey have invited us here….” Only I was standing in the back thinking….”Corey’s not there yet!” It was quite comical watching the WC trying to signal and motion to him to stop. I told her not to worry about it and he would either realize it or finish the intro and then we’d go down. After he finished he asked everyone to bow their head to pray. At that moment we opened the doors and dad and I stood there waiting till the music started. When pastor said “amen”, Daniel looked up and I was all he saw. He just stared at me with tears in his eyes. It was beautiful. The rest of the ceremony went just as “planned” though I don’t really remember much about it.=)
The post-wedding pictures took about 20 minutes to complete and when we arrived at the reception people were still waiting in the food line. We were announced as we entered and went straight to cutting the cakes. We spent the next 2 hours hugging and talking to people and trying to avoid getting anything on the dress. I tell you, it was a miracle my dress didn’t get splattered in punch when there were SO many kids coming up with full punch cups to get a hug. I even had to watch out around the adults. One man came up to Daniel and inadvertently flung a plate of food all over his tux! Thankfully there was nothing wet or greasy so no harm done. People were starting to leaving and I was tired of standing so Daniel and I decided it was time to go. We hugged our families and then made the grand exit. When we got to the car we found it covered with silly string all over the INSIDE! Daniel went to open the door for me and found the handle to be filled with Vaseline. I was worried about the silly string possibly doing something to my dress so I hiked it up so I wasn’t actually sitting on it. We finally left and got just a few minutes away when we realized that we’d forgotten to have the marriage license signed so we ran back for that. Everything went so well and I really felt like it was a fairytale and I was the princess!
Our honeymoon in VA was wonderful! We had a nice balance of rest and sightseeing. We stayed at a resort near Fredricksburg and got to see a lot of D.C. and northern Virginia.
I don’t have pictures yet but will post them just as soon as I can!

Congratulations!
Great to have you back (and good to see I'm not the only one who wants to see the photos!)
Sounds like you were really lucky managing to save you dress from all of that mess, and that vaseline handle sounds gross.
Too funny about you FIL satrting the wedding without you but at least no-one panicked so maybe it looked fine to the guests. Was your Grandma really touched that you went to share your day with her?

Thanks gals!
As soon as I have pictures I'll show them off to you!
Yes, it meant A LOT to my grandmother that we went to see her. I'm the oldest and first grandchild to get married so it was really hard for her not to be able to be there.
