I bought a little round jar of liquid jewelry cleaner from the jewelry store (or maybe they gave it to me, can't remember now). It's about 3" tall and 3" in diameter. Anyway, it came with a little shelf so you can lower and raise your jewelry in it, and a brush. I don't know what's in it, but it seems to work. I figure if it says jewelry cleaner on it, it must be good for gold and diamonds at least.

I dont know how safe this is, but it works on my earrings. I just dip it in rubbing alcohol. I figure it can disinfect and clean at the same time.

Although I think your best bet would be to get the little jewelry cleaners that they sell almost anywhere for like $5 cuz it comes with the little brush that comes in handy to get into the little crevices of your jewelry.
