Default Choosing your palette

Here's a little help for the confused and/or undecided.

This is a color wheel It shows you the ranges of shades and hues within each color with black being at the center and white on the outer edges.

(you could also find ones with more range online too I'm sure)

When deciding on your color scheme, try thinking a little unconventionally. Example: If you know you're having a fall wedding but aren't completely sure you're into the rich, deep traditional colors of fall turn to Mr. Colorwheel. You don't have to go so deep to create a warm fall ambiance. Oranges range into peaches, greens into sages - you get the idea. If you've got a grasp on at least 1 color, try pairing it with a contrasting color to catch eyes. Or stay within the range of the same color and go monotone.

OK, that's all I've got. I have a natural eye for color and scheming. It's hard to put it into words, but I tried. Good luck.

Default Complimentary colors

One other thing to keep in mind is that colors oposite each other on the color wheel are natural accents to each other. So, for example, if you choose a peachy orange as your main color, you may want to use a light blue (in the same ring but acroos the wheel) as an accent.

I took a stage lighting class in college and learned a lot about color interactions.

I'm having a summer wedding. I've always wanted light pink as my main color. The BM's will be in light pink and I wanted to add a light yellow. Would that look funny? According to the colorwheel I need to add light green, but I'm not sure I really want that color. I was thinking of my bouquet being white with hints of pink & yellow. BM's bouquets yellow. Any thoughts?

Well, a little green will be added by the stems and leaves of your flowers, so I wouldn't think it'd be necessary to add any if you don't want to.

I think the colors you like would look great together, if you found the right shades. Something I did (to find the right lilac and celedon) was to go to Home Depot and look at the various paint samples to find a few combinations of shades that worked together. Pick out a few different combinations, so you can match as closely to your flowers and dresses as possible.

I've never saw anything like that before, I just tested my colours and they are opposite each other so that is great

Default What do ya'll think?

It's too late to turn back now on my color desisions. I was just wondering what anybody thought. I'm getting married in October so i wanted a warm fall color, I decided on Wine and since my fiance wanted a say in it he wanted Silver...so i compromised.....Wine and Silver it is. Wine dresses for the ladies and Silver vest for the Gentlemen, or so i thought and found out a few days ago that Daniel (my fiance) only wanted to wear a silver vest and the groomsmen to wear black (I sure hope it all looks okay in the end result). For the flowers i decided on burgandy calla lilies for me and then white calla lilies for the ladies. Just tell me what ya'll think it would be greatly appriciated THANKS!

Cru5h is a former member of the forums and when she left she removed all of her photos and graphics. So you aren't doing anything wrong.

Here's a clickable colorwheel that allows you to see the opposite/corresponding colors in another window. It's pretty cool and I think I'm going to use this for our home, lol.

Hey everyone. Question for the people with a natural eye for color. Does this look good for a spring wedding on a farm.
Latte for the BM dresses

Brown and light pink for other colors throughout

Please be honest!! And tell me suggestions!

TN,

I dont think that is the right shade of pink. If you went with a little lighter value of the same color I think it would look better.

As for the color wheel, if you go to the library they have tons of books on color. and you dont have to choose colors that are right across from each other, you can choos a variety of colors from the wheel. Just look at swatches and see what looks best together.

It will be best if you are able to bring the swatches to the locations of where they will be (outdoors if an outdoor wedding) because colors look DRAMATICALLY different in different lighting!
