you don't happen to have a picture of the hall you're using do you? I work best that way. I haven't married yet but I can decorate my butt off.

What are the wedding colors and how formal is your wedding going to be? I’m sure we would all love to help you. The girls here have really good ideas.

It's actually bigger than what it looks like in the picture. Our colors are baby blue and white. We will be having approximately 200-250 guests.

I love how they have fabric draped from side to side. U could do the same thing just a little more fabric with Christmas lights under it.
With having the long tables u might want a center piece that goes down the table. If you are going to have people on both sides of the table put a runner down the center of the table.
then in the center u could put those cheap vases maybe 6 to 9 per table. I'm talking about the ones u can get at the dollar tree or at walmarts for like $2 each. u could put marbles in the bottom of the vase and then add a few wild flowers per vase.
This picture link might tell u what I am talking about.

Let me think a little more. This place looks like u could do a lot with it to dress it up.

If you can, I would buy a TON of white tulle and cover the ceiling. I would also definitely use those long rectangular tables they have and I'd try having small vases full of flowers and candles all down it. That's the look I've been seeing in all the magazines lately.
Here is a link to some pictures that might be helpful -- I think you could easily copy the looks here if you like them: http://www.mezdecor.com/reception.htm

I didn't really decorate the hall at all. The room was already very nice and had a huge window facing the Great South Bay, so we didn't think it was necessary to add more. There was a fireplace with a mantle, so we lined it with giant seashells and votive candles (no flowers for us!)

I suggest, if it's possible (depending on the amount of guests you have it might not be feasible), that the tables be positioned with the guests' backs to the walls around the perimeter of the room, with the center left open, instead of people staring at the backs of people's heads. Head table at the front of the room, like usual. I LOVE the example that ljeagle showed you. It's gorgeous.
If it's not possible, I'd cluster the long tables into 4 and make a square shape with them so there's an open center and they all face it.
I also suggest tall centerpieces, in the center, as opposed to what is shown (small all across the tables). Tall centerpieces, with thin bases and full tops. The tables are long and kind of businessy looking how they have them shown. I think they'd look more elegant with something dramatic in the center.
In the center of the room (or center of the clusters of table squares) I'd suggest a bunch of helium-filled balloons with long curly ribbons in whatever your colors are, that hang down to the middle of the room or further.
And that's all I've got. Good luck!

Just a little suggest. If you're planning on having "alot" of white tulle hanging around, it can get pretty expensive. However if you buy some white netting, when you bunch it together it has the same effect as the tulle and you can get some at walmart for about 57cents a yard. You could inter-mix them to help keep the cost down.

Ok here is a place setting idea you could substitute baby blue for almost any color in this.
Centerpiece ideas
I like this one
This one will bring a nice glow to the room
You could sub baby blue flowers for the red flowers
This one has a little lavender but you get the idea

I *love* the one that LJ posted!
If we were having rectangular tables I'd steal that idea! and it'd work for any colour... Wish I was having those tables now!

Thanks ladies I really wanted to do that but now that I changed location the place is not high enough and we have round tables. I wished my place had those chairs they have the folding ones but at least they are cushion ones...

Lol, Lj, people are going to think I keep stealing your ideas. What you posted is what I have every intention on doing to my reception hall. And Cru5h, what you said about the arrangement of the tables is what I'm doing too. Now I just have to figure out how I'm going to attach the netting/tulle to the ceiling.

OMG Suzy! I don't think I've seen those before! Stunning and those long runners *can* work on round tables, it might be workable for me to pinch LJ's idea after all! I had definitely seen your wedding ones and your cake because I remember them...
Thanks for sharing Suzy
