Don't worry there is allot of places that you can have a wedding in the Cancun, Riviera Maya area and Cozumel. So take a deep breath and lets address what you are looking for. The trouble is that you see the advertisement for resorts, but there is allot of excellent resorts within that area that don't do big budget advertisement. Some will even take in the all inclusive program to have a wedding dinner without an added cost or maybe just one set fee.
However right now without knowing either of you I could not comfortable suggest something to you. What I would like to know is a bit more about what you are looking for in a resort, travel plans and wedding. Normally I don't do this here but you sound like your on the end of your rope and you need that help yesterday. Contact me at
lindsay@weddingsonthego.com or call me toll free at 888-929-8693 Ext 710. We could possibly have something confirmed for you by the end of Thursday. You never know.
What I would like you to answer are these questions. And this holds true for any destination wedding couple. When you contact a company like ours that advertises that they specialize in destination weddings, ask them both sides travel and wedding. Don't focus on what cheap price you can get me or what is the cheapest you can get? Because that is the service you are going to get, cheap. Normally what they will do is just the travel then send you to the resort to handle the wedding. And ask them how many weddings they have personally done, not the company. You are dealing with that person, not the company. Then ask them how they are going to "marry" the two together to make your life easier.
This may look like I am knocking something but I want all PASH brides to be informed. You would not believe the horror stories that come across our desks. And the only way you are going to learn is to be educated. Any wedding should be approached by the service level. This is not a day that you want to be going with something that is questionable. Just like a local wedding, you hire a planner to make everything go smoothly for your. A destination wedding planner is so much more because they know about the destination, the resort, wedding details, any special events before and after, how to get you there, what the resort offers and the legal requirements.
So take a moment to walk around the internet to find a Certified Destination Wedding Planner from the Destination Wedding Association. That organization is setup on education and experience, so you know what you are getting.
Here are the questions:
1. What city are you flying out?
2. What is your citizenship?
3. Have either of you been married before? If so, how long as it been since you are divorced?
4. Anyone traveling with special needs or dietary concerns?
5. What is the most important feature that you need in a resort?
6. Do you have a tentative wedding ceremony budget?
7. Are you looking for a beach, garden or a unique place to have your wedding ceremony?
8. Tell us more about your wedding vision. If you want a cocktail hour, wedding dinner, certain flower, any thing that you can think of, that you want in your wedding.
I hope this helps. And Budget Beach Girl don't worry lets see what we can do!
Have a great Fourth of July Everyone!
