Default Drivers License

Ok, well as you all know I have been married and living in WA since then. But I just got my WA State Drivers License. well let me back up a bit.

I don't like taking tests. When we got married I was told that to get my WA DL I would need to take a written and a road test. No WAY! So I just had my name changed on my old License. I thought to myself that I would study and borrow a automatic and sometime take the stinkin' tests, but did I ever do it? Nope................

Well fast forward to wed about mid day. I am driving along in my Little Toyota, see and Smokey on a bike (no offense DG) and gasp when he pulls out behind me. I am not a speeder so I knew that wasn't an issue, so I keep driving thinking when will he just go around me...... well before i know it his little ole blue lights come on. I pull over and he walks up to the car and he says "so who owns this vehicle." I'm like thinking what the hey, my hubby and I do. Anyway he says your missing your tabs. Well come to find out our tabs were stolen or fell off or something, anyway back to my story, he takes my license and registration and insurance card calls everything in and comes back and says, how long have you been here. I tell him and he says "didn't your husband tell you you needed to switch your DL over within 30 days of moving here." (uh yeah he told the little lady that, what MCP comment!) anyways, I said "yes, but it's just been so busy and I don't want to take no tests!" He was real nice about it, just gave me a verbal warning, so I hightailed it down to the DMV and guess what, they didn't make me take any tests! None at all! What a blessing! Also, getting the tabs reissued was a fairly quick process too!

So that was my eventful week in review!

Oh yeah I still have those papers to write!

I'm glad that worked out for you. Yay for no tests! At least your officer just gave you a verbal warning, the one that pulled me over a couple of weeks ago gave me a ticket. But I also got yelled at for my address not being right on my license....I was trying to hold off on changing it since I'll have to change it again in June for my name. But I guess since I got a ticket I should go change it....what do you think? (Sorry, not trying to jack your thread.)

How did he know that you weren't still living at your address?

yOu would be amazed by what all info that police officers can find out just by running your tags. I know from riding with FH that they can find out your address, phone, driving record, and if you have any felonys or outstanding warrants. It is insane how much they can find out. Since you had the same last name on the license and your tags. It is pretty easy to figure it out. All they have to do it pretty much put 2&2 together. Matt Has caught many people doing that, and he told me he is glad we already both live in th esame state.

Oh and I don't get offended by the way people talk about law enforcement. I don't rather care for them most of the time. But I love FH and I support that it was his choice on his career.

He knew because I was all flustered when looking for my registration and could only find my old one, so I had to tell him my new one. I found the current one after he had gone back to his car. But even still, the current one has my new address on it, and my DL has the previous address that FH and I lived at on it. Bloody laws...

At least everything worked out... as far as I know, most states don't make you take a test if you're just switching an out-of-state lisence for a new one. I know I didn't have any tests when I got my NY liscence (just moved there from CT).
