Smile Hello to all of you June Weddings!

My name is Jeanine, and my fiances' name is Rick, Im 37 yrs old, and this is my first wedding, and Rick is 55 yrs old, and this will be his 2nd wedding!
We werent even for sure about getting married up until about the end of April, because both of us are getting S.S. Disability, and we were worried that it would have some kind of reprocussion against one of us (I was thinking that it would be me) if we were to get married. But then we talked to the local Social Security office, and we were told that there would be no reprecussions if we were to get married.
So I emailed all of our family members, Rick's family is all on the west coast, and my parents are here in Iowa. Everyone...BUT my family responded back to the email, and so I called my mom, and asked her if she had gotten her email, and she told me that she would check later on that night. Well later on that night, I checked my email, and low and behold, there was a email from my mother, informing me that they WOULD NOT be attending our wedding, because of things that have happened in the past. She also informed me that I was NOT to contact any other members of my family, because she was going to let them know not to do anything for us.
Well when I sent out my email to all of our family members, we never asked for any kind of monetary help, because Rick & I figured that since we were old enough, that we would be the ones paying for everything!
I really have a feeling that my mom thought that we were going to ask for some help financial wise, but that never crossed my mind! I just wanted to have both of my parents there, to share the most beautiful day in my life. Especially my dad, because he has alzheimers, and I dont know how long I am going to have him left in my life.
So Rick & I decided that since it was only going to be his parents, and some very close friends of ours attending the wedding, we would make it very informal, very casual, and have a justice of the peace officiate our wedding! We asked 2 of our good friends to stand up with us while we say our vows, and then less than a week later, we find out that Rick's brother, Todd and Todd's son is going to be attending the wedding! When Todd got married, Rick was his best man, and Rick would have liked to have had his brother be his best man, but since we didnt know that he was going to be attending, he asked one of his close friends.
Tomorrow (Thursday) all of Rick's family will be starting to arrive, and we have been informed that Thurs, Fri, Sun, and part of Mon., we were expected to spend the days with Rick's family! But my maid of honor & I planned on going up to Des Moines to get our nails done, to find some different shirts for the wedding, since it is suppose to be warm out Saturday, and just pick up the lil things that we may have forgotten! But we are going to be back in time for all of us to go out together, and have supper. Then after our ceremony at the park, we are going to head into town, and have our own lil wedding reception with some friends that werent able to attend the wedding because of Memorial Fun Run that is going to be happening the same day as our wedding!
Well, I guess that I best get outta here, and go lay down for a lil while...so that I can kinda look freshed faced! I have a few things to accomplish today...and I will be back to check for messages to some of the questions that I posted a lil earlier!
Congratulations to all the June Wedding People!
~peace & hugs!~

KaileK,
I have done alot of talking with many of my friends, and they all have been very supportive, more then my own family, and I look at it like this, its THEIR loss, not mine that they wanted to act so childish, and stay away from our wedding!
I think that I got most everything accomplished earlier today, and found a couple things that we didnt have! So now, all's we have to do is make sure that Rick's parents and Rick's brother doesnt get lost coming from the Des Moines airport down to our lil town!
I hope that you have had great day!
~~Hugs~~
Jeanine
