Thumbs up Who says you'll never wear that bridesmaids dress again???

This is so cool! Rick and I are in a wedding together this year, and the bride wanted the girls to get separates from David's Bridal. Some of the girls have been ordering theirs from ebay, but I have been unable to because they haven't had anything available in a size even close enough to mine to be altered. Yesterday the bride told me that that Karen (the other MOH) got a 1-piece dress in Apple from DB. She said she really isn't too particular as long as the dresses are the right color and fabric from DB and are floor length. She only picked the separates so that everyone could pick a style they liked and felt good in. Well, the dress I wore as MOH in my sister Jenny's wedding in 2004 is the right length, fabric and color from DB, she she said I could wear it! She said she thinks that will actually work out well because now the 2 MOH's will be the only ones wearing a 1 piece dress. Woo-hoo! I am also excited because I was wearing the dress when Rick proposed to me at my sisters wedding reception, so it's going to be extra cool to wear it again. Yay!!! That's gonna save me some for sure.

AAAAAND - on top of that - I am attending my sister Dawn's work banquet with her on Saturday night, and she will be wearing the BM dress that she wore in my wedding. Woo-hoo! Feeling really good about BM dresses today.

UP until May I have always been the BM not the bride. I was trying to count and I think I have been a BM for 6 weddings. I have never wore a dress twice...

I think it's great that you can get some more use out of it, and that your BM can too! I think it's normally such a waste to spend that on a dress that'll never be back out of your closet... That's one of the reasons I've gone for black for my BM.

I have never been a BM either, don't worry Vic. When my brother was engaged one time I was going to be asked but warned I would tell her no. That is a long story............

The only way I would pay for the girls dresses is if they were something that they would wear again.

I wore the one I wore in my sisters wedding to prom the next year and then a friend borrowed it and wore it for prom.

I need to find something to do with all my formal dresses. I have 4 different ones from proms and 6 formal from weddings and I have two other formal dresses. I wore one of my prom dresses a lot but I'm in love with it...

LOL @ Vic!

That's AWESOME, Brandi!! So glad it worked out!

Ok, off topic, but was your sister PISSED that Rick proposed to you at her wedding? Of course she'd be happy for you, but I'd think many brides would be "territorial" about "her day" and wouldn't be too happy about someone taking away the attention. I'm assuming your sister was a little more gracious, though!

Oh no no no MTGH - Rick and my sister and her husband planned the whole thing together! One of these days I will get around to posting about it in a Bridal Journal thread...

One of my BM's works in a high school and had to chaperone the school's junior prom. She asked me if she could dye the dress black to wear for the prom. I talked her out of dyeing (because the prom was in June and the dress was pink, a better color for the season), but I felt better that she was getting more use out of the dress.

Right on that you guys have found places to wear your dresses. I know I have a BM dress that is just in the closet (partially b/c I have no place to wear it, partially 'cause I'm too fat for it). See, this is why I wanted the short dress for my BM, but nooooo.......oh well, their money.
I've worn a few of my dresses as Halloween costumes (princess) and my sister has also worn a few to her dances.

I actually wore the BM dress I had for my Brother's wedding before the wedding

It actually was a good thing though because then I found out I needed to fix the dress a little and could do that before the morning of the wedding. Now it's just hanging in the closet waiting for another chance.
