Question Are websites worth the money?

Ok I’m not exactly sure where to post this question so I’ll post it here.

I was planning to get one of those build your own wedding websites so I don’t have to deal with a million people calling me for information. Plus it is a great place to make announcements and such. But now I’m trying to rework our budget in order to afford the photographer we want.

So my questions are :
What is your opinion on these build your own wedding website? (useful or not useful)
If you have a website do you feel it was worth the money?
Are they easy to set up and customize?

I would appreciate it, only if you felt comfortable, if you wouldn’t mind sharing your websites so I can get an idea of what a real user’s site looks like. (they always show the ones with all the bells and whistles) I really appreciate any help and opinions you all have to offer .

I get a certain amount of space from my broadband provider so my site is free...

http://www.Ann555.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk

Feel free to look around! I'm really surprised just who has been on it actually, I got a phone call from one of my brothers saying one of his friends said I have an old picture of him online and I was like WTF he's been on my web site??? It's all about the wedding why would it even interest him?

Turned out a friend of a friend passed on the address... He's distantly conected to Moreno and they're getting married too so I guess they were looking for inspiration...

ETA: I've not updated it for a wee while now. Should really!

somewhere on this forum I posted a link to a website that was free and was chocked full of information to give your guests. I build webpages and it was something I'd opt to do because it looked very professional and was easy to use. I need to set ours up. I signed up for it and never filled anything in.

I have one from Wedding Solutions, but I got it free by registering at JC Penny. (They still have the promotion going on too, if you're interested.)
Here's my link if you'd like to take a gander:
http://mysite.weddingsolutions.com/reneeandchris/
It was really easy to do, all I had to do was pick the format and fill in the blanks.

Does anyone have a website created through the wedding announcer website? It looks really simple and there's lots of space to put things on there. I'd like to see one that is complete through there.

Places like weddingchannel.com and knot.com also offer free, cookie cutter webpages for couples that are free when you register. I haven't really set mine up much since we don't have a date, but here's ours: bryanneandtom.weddings.com

They also have places to put event info, take RSVP's online, have pictures.

I did ours through weddingchannel.com it seems similar to the weddingannouncer.com site...

We are actually using it for our RSVP's, but you can add pictures and link a photo album from an outside source...add quotes or whatever....

We had a site that showed all the info for the wedding, but now it only shows our wedding album: www.wedding.stenro.com

Note - DH works with computers, so these things come easy for us.

Me too I sent out an email to them and they said that they would book this early but that they are going to have a price increase in 2007 but they are willing to work with us since we are more than likely going to book early with them. So after we book our chapel/reception site to make the date “official official” which should be this weekend then we are booking a meeting them . I was pleased that they replied to my email the same day I sent it out. So far so good.

DH is a graphic artist/website designer...so that came easily for us as well.
However, I used the Knot's website services. It worked great for me!
