Default GerriS

Hello, I'l SO glad there is such a site as this. My two sons' wives' families from far off planned their weddings so my daughter getting married this August is the firs time I've been involved in any weddings. They flipflopped around for months and finally landed on August 22 at 5PM. Whew, I'm glad that's decided on at least! They may have it in a park or in a church ... that's not been decided on yet. In August I'm thinking a park wedding while lovely poses some problems with keeping some of the food intact and safe in that heat. What do you think is a good menu for that time of day...the wedding would be done by maybe 5:30 and then all the pics and finally eating ... kind of a long wait for supper. Any expert advice would be GREATLY appreciated. Catered, homemade, we dont know yet. THANK YOU PS The groom's family is the big family and is where the wedding will be...our family is very tiny so we'll be traveling 3 hrs from my home, some farther. (I'm 62 if that give you any idea of my energy level )

Default August 22 wedding, solved

Well, the Mom of the Groom knew someone who caters and the caterer agreed to take us on as his last of the year, thank the Lord. I thought a simple meal would be maybe $8/plate or so but it's $11 plus $150 FOR servers...in case anyone was wondering. This is a small town near Madison, Wisconsin. It will be in the church with air conditioning, which made things easier ... buffet ... ham and beef w/gravy, a salad, mashed potatoes, corn and Chinese peas (or green beans w/bacon) and that's it besides our cake. We provide the plates, eating utensils, tablecoths, napkins, and cups. I guess this has been mostly an informational message, but I'm glad if we can help just one bride.

Hi Gerris. I'm so sorry that the expert didn't get back to you in time to help you with your issue. I am happy that it all worked out well.

Feel free to post in the other (non-expert) areas, too, for some helpful advice. There's always a pack of women willing to share their ideas, views, and experiences with you.

Welcome back!
