Default print yourself invites

We don't want to pay $200 for invites but Im just not finding what we are looking for in the print yourselves. Has anyone done the print yourselves ones that weren't just plain or had a silver edge. FH really wants some color, kind of want to incorporate red in there somewhere. We find gorgeous ones at the print shops Any suggestions on websites or stores would be fabulous.

Yep! There are a bunch of cool places where you can order unique invites that you can print yourself. I haven't ordered yet, but I'm eyeing them!

impressinprint.com

paperstyle.com

invitationconsultants.com

partycat.com (This address might not be right. I printed it out but it doesn't have the address on it.)

I know there's others. When I was looking I just googled invitations.

If you are up for a bit more work you could get the supplies from an art shop and design them yourself like I did... It takes up quite a lot of time but it has saved me a fortune.

Talking Speak of the devil...

I actually just bought some. (Although I'm so crazily indecisive, who knows if I'll keep them!)

They're Garter Invitations -- their site is www.uprint.com -- and I bought a lovely set of them. They're ivory with sage green on the invite, comes with envelopes that are printed on the inside, response cards & small envelopes. I also bought an accessory wrap that's a floral print on sage green vellum, ribbon to wrap around them, and those inexpensive silver rings to put on the ribbon. The total for all of it (I bought enough to make 50, which is overshooting the amount of invitations I need) was only $60. As soon as my sister wakes from her nap, I'm going to borrow my mom's camera and put pics up (of the invites and the ring).

Those are very nice. I wish the lighting was better, so that we could really see the colors.

Oh they look lovely I got impatient and went to the site, I wondered if it was those ones

ETA: Lizbet, if you click the link above and look for the of the bride with the flowers there is a box just inside that. It says wedding samples. Well if you go right-> to number 5 I'm *sure* it's those ones... It won't let me steal the picture or I'd just have pinched it for you!

Yup, they're number 5 -- I had tried to steal it earlier, but no luck! Stinking flash player......they're number 2 as well...I got ribbon and small wedding rings to get the look of the wrap.

ETA: Didn't mean to hijack this thread, just wanted to show you the ones I got because they were really affordable, just over a buck an invite. The invitation ideas tab (next to wedding samples tab) has a set of invites that have red and black in them, really lovely.

I took ANNs advice and went to my local craft/art store and tried to make a few of my own. We didnt want white invites. Our colors are Red, Black , and Ivory.

Heres what Ive come up with so far.

This bottom one, the sides of the vellum would be tacked down with those black corner scrapbook picture holder thingys (ya know what i mean)

They all say the same thing. Which ones do you guys like?

I like either #2 or #3 without the ribbon. I think they look better simpler. They all look nice, though -- I commend your craftiness! I tried, but, well...

Man! Those are awesome! Did you have to cut all the squares that perfectly or did you manage to find different-sized papers just to glue them on?

I THINK I like #2 the best. But it may be because the color is off on my monitor so I'm not sure that #3 really matches well--it looks like pink stripes on red on black? I actually DO like the pink and the red together, but somehow the black throws it off. But without the black it's kinda funky informal. #1 and #2 look more formal.

Nope I had to cut each piece. The papers came in 12x12 sheets. But I can make each invitation for about 40 cents. I made a few others this morning I will put on here at lunch time

Can I change my vote? I don't think all the pics came up for me yesterday. I love number four. It's really great looking.

I like #2 the best.

Have you got a guillotine to cut them out? It saves so much work! (Plus they look more professional than wonky edges )
