Engravings - What for and which ring?
I know I will be loved no matter what, but I was thinking of doing an engravment on the ring (letters/words, not designs).
The question is... is there a "norm" as to whether engravings are normally done on the band or the e-ring?
Ok I lied, there's another question. I think putting her name on it would be a little silly, personally. She knows what her name is. But I thought about perhaps one of her nicknames that I have for her, or some catchphrase that one or both of us use(s) all the time. Is there a norm for this too? Names? catchphrasese? Nicknames?
This was probly my shortest post ever.
Thanks!
Nic

Do you mean an engraving on the inside or the outside? To me it would generally go on the inside...I think it'd be ok to do it on either the e-ring or the band, whatever your preference is. The catch phrase is a cute idea if you wanted it to be short, you could also just do a date that is significant to both of you.

Well I was thinking on the inside. I don't think I've ever seen words engraved on the outside.

I realized how dumb that question was after I posted it,lol...honestly I've seen it done on the outside of a band one tho and it was really odd...I think she'll love whatever you choose to have engraved,it's a really sweet idea and it makes it alot more personal.

Yeah. I was just thinking of some phrase that's meaningful to both of us, but that no one else would likely understand the significance of.
But I still can't decide if I want the engraving on the engagement ring or the wedding band. I have managed to ever-so-sneakily pry out of her that she does indeed plan to continue to wear the engagement ring along WITH the band when we get married, and forever and ever after that. So if I do the engraving on the e-ring, then she'll have those words forever and ever. If I choose to do it on the band, then she'll have those words when we get married, and then forever and ever Amen.
Anyway. Any other ideas from anyone else?

I think it would be very sweet for you to do! I have only heard of doing it on the wedding band!! I need to give to my fiances email so you can pass some of these sweet ideas on to him!!
I think that you should put a saying that only you 2 know what it means!

I would put the engraving on the wedding band. I think it should be something that everytime she sees it she smiles and thinks of you. Something only the two of your understand.

I would say the wedding band, because I don't think you'll get the engagement ring off her finger to get it engraved! I've seen the outside of plain bands engraved with script before, and they can look really nice. I'm sure that if you search for something like engraved jewelry or engraved rings you can find examples of what it'll look like. Good luck!!!
