Looking for a good match that you click with is extremely important, after all, you'll spend more time with your photographer than you will your husband pm your wedding day (sad, but true, I'm afraid). No one likes to be bossed around and you shouldn't be on your special day. Keep looking for another photographer and ask friends and coworkers who they've seen that they like. You all have it a lot easier in that you can check out dozens of photographers online without having to take up much of your time. If you find that the photographers you do like are booked, ask them for referrals. Best of luck and don't settle!

Default Ask around

I would ask around with your friends and families to see if you can get any personal recommendations. Of course, they say a picture is worth 1000 words so be sure to examine their portfolios - see if their photos are of the quality and style that you want. I have to agree that I would want a photographer telling me where to stand, etc. A good wedding photographer should be able to take candid shots without having to pose you for every shot.

i think being comfortable with him is important. i want to be comfortable asking with him giving me direction, etc. For example, i want him to tell me if i have a double chin in a pic and tell me how to correct it so we get a good shot.

everyone says you should pick someone that does a combo of formal photography and photo-journalism.

I responded to this back in April... but for the record... if you are interviewing any vendor and you just don't like them, or you just get a weird vibe or whatever... MOVE ON. The world is filled with lots of hard working, very talented and fabulous folks who bend over backwards every single working day to make sure the bride and groom get exactly what THEY want. Don't settle for less, but that does mean you also need to plan pretty far ahead. The best book up super, duper early and their talent isn't unnoticed by other brides or other vendors! Marci
