Stop pulling up old threads and spamming them, thanks.

How is it considered spam when they are asking specifically for help? I honestly did not know I was doing anything wrong. I even checked other threads and saw that specific links were given, so I didn't think there'd be a problem. And they aren't old threads.

It's considered spamming because you are posting links from your own business, well, the one that you originally had in your signature line. We have a classifieds section for that kind of thing specifically, and all of the ladies would be able to view your work from there. You are allowed to have your business in your signature line, but I think that it can only be a mx of two lines or something like that. Check out the FAQ up on the top menu - it should help you out with whatever questions that you may have.

To be honest with you, it's borderline. I think according to our community rules it isn't spam, and the posts you're responding to are only a few weeks old, not several months as sometimes happens when people come on only to advertise their sites.

However, since your ONLY posts have been to direct business to your site, some of us are going to view that as spam...or at least not as welcome as our beloved vendors who are active members of our site or stick just to the classifieds section without pushing their stuff on every possible related thread. But yes, those threads you posted in were originally asking for ideas/assistance, so it isn't technically spam and doesn't need to be reported. But we get a LOT of spam and a LOT of solicitation...and we don't really like it much.

Default I understand...

I understand your point and I'll be more careful. Honestly, I originally got on the message board to ask for advice and ideas, but when I saw people asking for specific items, I just thought I'd help. I'm new at posting on message boards, so forgive me because I'm learning.

Sassy, I think you're okay with what you posted. According to our community rules:

Quote:
Vendor solicitation is only allowed in the Classified Ads Forum.
Use the classified ad area to post about your business in general.

Quote:
Vendor solicitations may be allowed in the other forums should they be specifically requested by a poster. Vendors may also answer posts and give up to two lines of business related information in their signatures.
You may respond to a thread with information about products or your business when a poster asks about something specific. For example - if a poster is looking for necklaces, you may post an ad for your business or direct her/him to a specific item. November is right, however. We get a lot of vendors who dig up very old posts to advertise their business and we do get frustrated with that... I don't think the ones you've replied are too old, but it would be helpful for you to keep an eye on that type of thing. It's just something we really appreciate. Thank you and welcome!

I didn't mean to be such a bitch, but after awhile you REALLY get sick of all the old posts being brought up just to see an advertisement when you were hoping to read an update from the original poster. So, I do apologize, it sounds as if you were legitimately trying to help.

Thanks, I appreciate your consideration. I should have looked at the rules....
now that I have your attention Does anybody have any ideas for me about the original reason I posted on this site? Here's the dilemma:

I have an idea for my jewelry store and I need some help developing it. I offer affordable bridal/formal jewelry (crystals, fashion, rhinestones, etc.). Recently I have been selling jewelry to brides for their entire wedding party. Usually the bride chooses the jewelry and all the bridesmaids wear the same peice and it is the bride's gift to her bridesmaids, flower girls, mother, and mother of bride. I would like to offer a service at my store for brides and their bridal parties to come after business hours for a fun time of choosing their jewelry (and hopefully buying other pieces as well!). I'm sure it could be any group of women (or girls for prom, etc.) I need ideas on what to call the gathering, things to do while they are there, etc.

I would suggest starting a different thread, you'll have more people look at it and probably get more results.

You're not being a bitch girl. It is frustrating. There's someone digging up old posts now and they're not even selling anything (that I can tell.)

So, which thread should I post this in? As you can tell, I'm VERY new to the discussion board thing. I just thought a bridal forum would be the best place to start to get ideas....Justnmary-I don't think you were being a bitch either-someone has to make sure all the rules are followed!

It's okay to be new! It's just important to be sure you read the forum rules on posting links, advertising, etc. Plus with us, we're much more likely to respond positively and actually check out your site/products if you keep it to the classifieds. As a member, you're free (and more than welcome) to join in on any of the discussions just to 'chat' and give advice. But, solicitations stay to the classified ads.

If I were you, I would post that question in the classifieds or remove your link from the post and keep it to your signature only - if it's not already, and just leave your post as is in the Jewelry section.
